Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Could Finally Reunite With the Royal Family at a Special Castle
With Prince Harry's UK visit coming soon, reports suggest there might be a royal reunion in the cards.
Prince Harry is expected to visit the UK in July this year to mark the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Whenever this impending visit has been discussed in the past few months, two specific questions have always followed: Would Meghan Markle and their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, join him? And, will there be a royal reunion in the cards? So far, the answers have been muddled in contrasting speculations, but now it seems there could finally be a much-awaited meeting between the Sussexes and the royal family this year.
It had been reported previously that King Charles was willing to mend bridges with Harry and Markle for the sake of his grandchildren, whom he hadn’t met since 2022. And his wish might finally act as the catalyst in repairing the estranged family ties. BBC royal commentator Ingrid Seward talked about the 'only place' that could host the two warring parties under one roof. “The only place that really I think they could meet if the king is to get to know or at least see his grandchildren, is at Balmoral. It’s the only time the king has time and the Sussexes could be accommodated there because there’s lots of cottages on the Estate,” she told The Mirror.
If Markle were to join Harry for his trans-Atlantic voyage, the couple might stay at Balmoral itself. Seward further mentioned that arrangements could be made so that their stay doesn't become awkward. “Harry and Meghan don’t have to stay in the castle, although of course they would expect to, but that’s fine. They would make sure, obviously, that William and Kate weren’t there at the same time. So it’s not that difficult, and it can be done fairly under the radar,” she said.
Although Harry and Prince William were very close growing up, their once tight-knit bond has now soured to the extent that they are not even on speaking terms with each other. And Seward doesn’t see that changing any time soon, as she suggested Charles might 'carefully' select who might be present at Balmoral at the same time as his younger son and daughter-in-law, and William and Kate Middleton will likely not make the cut. The royal commentator explained, “I think the king would pick very carefully who was going to be there at the same time, and it certainly wouldn’t be William and Kate. If it were, I’d be absolutely astounded. Charles would get to say, ‘Darling boy, of course come to Balmoral’, and then because he’s the king, he could let his aides deal with everything else.”
An insider had previously told Closer that Harry and Markle are scheduled to spend a month in Europe this year, during Archie and Lilibet’s summer break from school. The source further added that the pair would use their “newly completed villa in Portugal as a base while travelling back and forth for engagements and private visits”.
Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex, who has been outspoken about wanting to reconcile with the royal family, is reportedly 'determined' to have a private meeting with his father at Balmoral. “Harry genuinely believes Balmoral could be the place where things finally start healing,” the source added.
