Meghan Markle’s Birthday Wish for Prince Harry Had a Special Princess Diana Connection
Meghan Markle made her birthday tribute to Prince Harry with a special Princess Diana twist.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new beginnings seem to have been accompanied by a lot of chaos with the royal family. However, Markle was able to put it all aside with a special birthday tribute on Instagram for Harry’s 42nd birthday. This was accompanied by the caption, “He’s simply the best.” She further added, “ Happy Birthday, my love. ❤️” This beautiful wish proved that the dynamic shared by the Sussexes couldn’t be warmer, more romantic, and harmonious. This comes amid Harry and Markle laying their roots in the United Kingdom, following their unexpected move.
Even Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have been enjoying their father’s homeland. Markle even added many pictures of them exploring their adventurous side with their father to his birthday reel. However, even beyond the emotional tribute, the reel had a more intimate touch. This actually connected it to Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, making it all the more wholesome. This happened as Markle chose an alternate version of Tina Turner’s incomparable song, "The Best," as background music for the reel. According to a report by HELLO!, this beautiful song holds a very special meaning.
This reportedly traces back to Harry and Prince William’s childhood. According to William, who opened up about this connection on a very special episode of the celebrated Apple Fitness+ series, Time To Walk, back in 2021. He discussed how Diana used to go the extra mile to bring positive vibes for her kids' sake. Apparently, she would play this iconic Turner song in the car to ease her young sons' anxiety, especially when they were driven back to boarding school. While elaborating on this, William explained, “When I was younger, Harry and I, we were at boarding school. And my mother used to play all sorts of songs to kind of pass the time while away with the anxiety of going back to school.”
Adding to this, the Prince of Wales exclaimed, “And one of the songs I massively remember and has stuck with me all this time, and I still, to this day, still quite enjoy secretly, is Tina Turner's The Best because sitting in the backseat, singing away, it felt like a real family moment.”
William further added that this song makes him look back on moments when his mother would drive and sing it at the top of her voice, having fun with her kids. This made it clear that while Markle's tribute was the real celebration of the roles he plays in his life and the man he has become, her choice of song was a tribute to the young boy within him and to the incomparable love he holds for his dear mother.
