Meghan Markle’s Birthday Post for Prince Harry Raises Eyebrows After Fans Spot One Detail in Video
Meghan Markle shared a new video to her Instagram stories for Prince Harry's birthday but one detail may have given away that it wasn't latest.
On Tuesday, Prince Harry rang in his 42nd birthday and his first in the UK in quite some time. He surely would have spent it with Meghan Markle and their kids. The Duchess of Sussex went all out on social media to celebrate her husband. Not only did she compile adorable family moments into a reel, but she also shared a video of the two of them going on a drive in the countryside to her Instagram stories. However, eagle-eyed royals noticed one detail that might suggest the driving video was not recent.
The Atlantic Ocean is not the only entity dividing the US and the UK. The two countries stand in contrast to each other. In the US, steering wheels are on the left, while in the UK, they are on the right. Canada, where the Sussexes had temporarily resided, also follows US driving rules. In the video shared by Markle, the Duke of Sussex could be seen driving while sitting in the left front seat. It could have been an indication that the video was taken before the couple crossed the pond last month.
In the video, Markle captured their picturesque route lined by tall trees before panning the camera to Harry, who grinned widely. It was quickly assumed that the video was shot recently in the UK, but that might not be the case. One X user pointed out, “This is old footage from 2020 when they 'fled' to Canada. Harry is driving on the left-hand side. In the UK, the driver is on the right-hand side.”
Royal fans were quick to notice the difference in the position of the steering wheel, as one commended, "Well spotted" while another stated, "I agree. And there are many states in the U.S. that have similar scenery." Many fans came to Markle's defense, with one pointing out a valid point: "Where on the birthday message did she state it was recent?" while another wrote, "You need to get a life, outside of social media."
It has been a rollercoaster ride for the Sussexes ever since they landed in Birmingham in August. A few days ago, Markle shared a sweet video of the family spending quality time in the UK. However, the joyous mood was quickly dampened when the couple had to withdraw Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet from their new UK schools due to security concerns. On Wednesday, it was reported that the Duchess’ personal number was leaked in a school WhatsApp group. This entire fiasco took place as Harry continues to bid for state-funded security.
It was announced earlier this week that RAVEC was undertaking a risk assessment for Markle. This would be her first such assessment since stepping away from the monarchy in 2020.
