Meghan Markle Faces Security Scare After Her Personal Number Leaks In a School WhatsApp Group
The Duchess of Sussex had like any other normal mom joined a group to get in touch with fellow parents.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved back to the UK along with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, last month. Thereafter, it was reported that the children were enrolled in a prep school, where they were warmly welcomed. However, within two days of settling in, they were abruptly removed from the program due to a serious security concern regarding their school run. The problem does not end there; a major developing story indicates that Markle's phone number has also been compromised.
According to The Sun, the Duchess had joined a school WhatsApp group a day before her children began their academic year with the aim of getting in touch with fellow parents and the latest updates surrounding ‘Year 3’. The members reacted cordially to Markle’s entry. One mum wrote: “Welcome to Meghan, who has Archie joining tomo.”
Another added: “Welcome!!” The Duchess’ reaction was like any other normal and enthusiastic parent: “Hi moms! Thanks for the warm welcome (heart emoji). So happy to be a part of this community xx.” However, her personal number was displayed, and since then the chat has gone viral, suggesting a member of the group screencaptured the conversation before leaking it. Meanwhile, Harry has been consistently insisting on taxpayer-funded security for his family due to significant threats.
Only recently has the Duchess been granted a full security evaluation since 2019, and with this unexpected incident of her personal number being exposed in a public chat, things could get even more challenging.
"The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements," a Sussex representative told HELLO! The spokesperson further stated that Harry and Markle have expressed deep gratitude to the teachers and staff for their love and care, emphasizing that their decision is not a reflection on the school or on the exceptional care the children received.
Meanwhile, a source close to the couple asserted that they were confident in the security checks but were unable to access the school run in person before the term began. "It’s a real shame, because they absolutely adored the school, the kids and their parents," the source added. The couple felt vulnerable in traffic congestion because their protection vehicles could not stay together, leaving them feeling like 'sitting ducks' whenever they were stationary.
GB News reported that the Sussex children participated in a taster session at a nearby alternative school and will soon begin taking classes there. Meanwhile, the RAVEC has requested the Sussexes to provide their full schedule and personal details for a new risk assessment.
