Meghan Markle Seen Driving Solo in UK Amid First Government Security Review Since 2020
The RAVEC has commissioned separate risk assessments for Megha Markle and Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down from their royal duties in 2020 and relocated to the United States with their son, Prince Archie, to get some distance from the Palace. In doing so, they also gave up their HRH titles and state-funded security. However, things have taken a turn now that Harry and Markle have moved back to the United Kingdom with their kids, Archie and Princess Lilibet, after 6 years of being away. According to a recent report by PEOPLE, the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex will be receiving an official risk assessment commissioned by RAVEC.
According to a report by The Telegraph, the committee chairman of the Royal and VIP Executive Committee was very clear that separate assessments will be conducted for both Harry and Markle. The committee has also requested both of their daily schedules, including routine trips to drop off and pick up Archie and Lilibet from school. All of this information, along with the final assessment, will be used to make a decision regarding the Sussexes' request for taxpayer-funded police security. As per reports, this will be the very first time the government has green-lit a risk assessment for Markle, following her move back to California in 2020.
On the other hand, Harry was granted a Risk Management Board analysis in July, though the results are yet to be determined. Security remains a major concern for the Sussexes, and it was reportedly one of the primary reasons the Duke and Duchess had to move the young Prince and Princess’ schools just two days after they enrolled. The couple reportedly feared they were ‘sitting ducks’ during the long commute, which also posed a threat to Harry and Markle during daily school runs. However, according to a recent letter, the Palace has refused to comment on the matter, clearly stating that “any operational security issues should continue to be directed to the relevant police authorities.”
However, amid the ongoing RAVEC risk analysis, Markle, who is currently settling into her new UK life with her family, was unexpectedly spotted behind the wheel of a large SUV. A source told HELLO! that she was seen driving alone in the Cotswolds, the area just outside of London where the Sussexes have reportedly decided to establish their new beginnings. According to the report, it is very rare to see her driving solo without Harry or the children, suggesting she is growing more comfortable in the UK. Though used to driving on the right side of the road in California, Meghan reportedly took lessons from Harry to master British driving, and the practice seems to be paying off.
