King Charles Jokingly Warns Macron About Royal Family Members Who Might 'Disturb' His 'Peace'

King Charles and French President Emmanuel Macron reportedly spent plenty of time together during the recent state visit. Besides delivering a heartfelt speech at the royal state banquet and making cheeky remarks about Prince William’s height, the monarch also issued a hilarious warning to Macron about a few members of the family who wouldn't keep quiet if anyone disturbed their peace. We are talking about none other than the King and the Queen’s pet pooches: Moley, Bluebell, and Snuff.

In the past year, several members of the royal family welcomed new pet dogs into their homes. After Queen Camilla’s beloved Jack Russell terrier, Beth, passed away, she adopted a mixed-breed dog named Moley earlier this year. The sovereign followed the trend and brought home an Italian truffle-hunting dog, Snuff, and a rescue dog, Bluebell. In a conversation with Macron, Charles warned him that their dogs could be a handful sometimes. According to Marie Claire, lip reader Nicola Hickling shared details about the two leaders’ conversation, revealing the king told Macron, “If you so much as cough, they start to bark, it may disturb your peace.” There was no mention of William and Kate’s pet, the expert claimed.

The late Queen Elizabeth was also fond of having pet dogs, and her two corgis were very dear to her. Sharing similar interests with the late Queen and the current monarch, William and Kate Middleton also have a cocker spaniel named Orla, whom they welcomed in 2020. The pet pooch, who recently gave birth to a litter of puppies, featured in William’s birthday post, was a gift from Middleton’s brother James Middleton.
Sadly, after welcoming the adorable puppies, the Prince and Princess of Wales faced backlash from PETA over their decision to allegedly breed their pet dog. According to People Magazine, the organisation’s Vice President of Programs, Elisa Allen, called out the couple, telling them to take lessons from the King and Queen. The statement read, “The Prince and Princess of Wales should know that shelters here and worldwide are overflowing with puppies desperate for a second chance at a loving home, and that churning out a litter in the midst of this animal homelessness crisis is staggeringly out of touch.” Allen later suggested, “If William is going to lead, he might well take a lesson from King Charles and Queen Camilla, who have chosen to adopt from a shelter rather than contribute to the problem.”

Meanwhile, according to Hickling’s revelations, the royal family’s conversations with Macron were not all political as they also shared a hearty laughter over other casual matters. Upon meeting William, the French President also addressed the prince’s height, while making a joke at his expense. Hickling revealed William said to Macron, “I don’t know why I am so tall, ask my Pa, I’d also love to understand.” When Macron called the Prince of Wales ‘incredibly tall,’ the King replied, “He is very tall. He’s six feet one, he is, ever so.” William corrected his father and added, “Actually, I’m six feet three.” An elated Macron then replied, “Unlike us, we’re short.”
