King Charles has just issued a statement in the wake of police arresting Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The younger brother of King Charles was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Charles confirmed that he will cooperate with the authorities and said, “The law must take its course.” The arrest comes shortly after Andrew's name showed up in recent Epstein files released by the US Department of Justice.

"I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office," the King's statement read. "What now follows is the full, fair, and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course."

A royal source also confirmed that Buckingham Palace was not given any warning about the arrest, reported CNN. While the exact nature of the investigation hasn't been made clear, Andrew was alleged to have shared sensitive information with Epstein during his tenure as UK trade envoy.

The King also added that it would not be right to make any further comment on the issue. "As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all," he said. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor had denied all Epstein-related allegations against him but has yet to comment on the emails released in recent weeks. UK's Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy responded to Andrew's arrest and said “Nobody in this country is above the law,” reported The Guardian.

Meanwhile, Virginia Giuffre's family released a statement in the wake of Andrew's arrest. "At last, today, our broken hearts have been lifted at the news that no one is above the law, not even royalty," said Giuffre's siblings, reported CBS News. "On behalf of our sister, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, we extend our gratitude to the U.K.'s Thames Valley Police for their investigation and the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. He was never a prince. For survivors everywhere, Virginia did this for you."
