Kate Middleton Under Fire as Mike Tindall’s Comments About Her Drinking Habits Resurface
Mike Tindall's old comments have made Kate Middleton the latest target of social media fans.
In the past few years, Kate Middleton has undergone a severe health crisis after being diagnosed with cancer. Although she is currently in remission, the battle admittedly affected her lifestyle and inspired some changes in it, one of them being cutting down on her alcohol intake. Earlier this year, the Princess of Wales made this revelation during a public engagement. However, those claims have now come under fire after her brother-in-law, Mike Tindall's, old comments about Middleton playing a drinking game with the royal family started to make waves on the internet.
Tindall runs a popular podcast with his rugby mates, titled ‘The Good, The Bad and The Rugby’, which featured his mother-in-law, Princess Anne, Prince William, and Middleton in a special episode in 2023. While talking about who is competitive in the family, Tindall said, “I knew that the Princess of Wales was uber competitive because I'd seen her play a drinking game called beer pong, but normally we play Prosecco pong! She still plays it with us." Although the claims were three years old, they recently caught attention, given the context of the situation, and also drew ire from social media users.
"If I had cancer, I wouldn't drink alcohol," one social media user commented as another wondered why Tindall revealed, "Now why would Mike Tindall say that? When Kate Middleton claims she's cut back on alcohol because of her "cancer"?" However, Middleton fans were also quick to the comment section to defend her. "You understand a drinking game?? The winner drinks very little and the loser drinks a lot. If I read the article, she is very competitive, so the chances are good that she would drink very little," one said, explaining the rules of the game, while another asked, "And? What about it?"
Before and after announcing her cancer diagnosis in early 2024, the Princess of Wales had largely disappeared from the public eye. However, she gradually returned to her royal duties after confirming her remission last year. Over the past several months, the future queen has taken part in various important state banquets and royal engagements, including a high-profile trip to Italy a few weeks back. The two-day tour marked her first international work trip since her diagnosis, which she concluded in great triumph.
The mother-of-three had travelled to Reggio Emilia to observe and learn the internationally acclaimed 'Reggio Emilia' method as a part of her fact-finding mission in early childhood studies. During the trip, Middleton visited several schools and activity or educational centres. Speculation is already afloat that the Princess of Wales is ready to accompany her husband, William, to India later this year for the Earthshot Prize ceremony. If the rumors turn out to be true, the trip will mark the royal's solid comeback to royal duties after a brief pause.
Apart from exciting work endeavours, Middleton has much going on the personal front as well. Her oldest son, Prince George, will begin his secondary education this year, and his hands-on parents are seemingly busy deciding which school would be the best option for the young prince. It is being reported that their respective alma maters, Eton College and Marlborough College, are under consideration at the moment.
