Is Prince William Now Jealous of Kate Middleton After Resenting Harry?

If reports are to be believed, Prince William was unhappy with King Charles over his agreeing to meet Prince Harry on September 10. Many also believe that the Prince of Wales may have felt a tinge of jealousy over Harry’s ‘successful’ UK visit, which saw the Duke warmly received by the British public. While William's bond with his family reportedly grows fractured, Kate Middleton remains reliant on her close-knit family — something that's allegedly been incredibly 'bittersweet’ for the Prince.

William’s public feud with Harry and the loss of his mother, Princess Diana, at a young age, has led him to seek solace with Middleton’s parents, Carole and Michael. Columnist Rob Shuter wrote in his Substack that a source revealed, "Kate leans on her family for everything. They’re the ones she trusts, the ones she wants around her kids. William’s side is basically frozen out." As per Shuter’s account, another insider added, "Kate’s family is solid, dependable, fun. For William, it’s bittersweet. He loves them, but it highlights just how fractured his own family has become."

It's no surprise, then, that William’s most weekends and holidays are often shared with the Middletons rather than the Windsors. His envy of Middleton's close family ties comes from a good place, perhaps a yearning to have that same sense of warmth and unity within his family. The optics of the Prince’s close bond with the Middletons are telling. As Shuter puts it, "Instead of spending low-key weekends with Windsor relatives, the Prince and Princess of Wales chose to party with Pippa and James Matthews, who threw a lavish 50th, complete with vintage planes and champagne towers. Meanwhile, Carole is spotted regularly on school runs and errands with her grandchildren."

Interestingly, William is especially close to Michael, allegedly viewing him as a father figure. Commenting on their bond, royal expert Katie Nicoll revealed in an episode of the Dynasty: The Royal Family's Most Challenging Year podcast that the Prince often relies on Michael for ‘advice.’ She explained, "He [Michael] has a great sense of humor, and I think he's someone who is a cool head in a crisis…They were a very tight unit, and they're still the same today." The proof of their close bond came when William reportedly asked Michael’s permission for Middleton’s hand before seeking approval from the late Queen Elizabeth, showing just how much he values his father-in-law.
And as for William’s dynamics with his family, the Prince of Wales is still said to be hurt and angry toward Harry for exposing the Firm’s secrets during their most vulnerable moments. Giving an account of the Prince's state of mind, an insider told the Daily Mail, "William is back at the point where if you mention Prince Harry in his presence, he would throw you out of the room. He’s doubling down." It is also believed that William purposely took many engagements on his plate, the same week Harry was in the UK, to avoid meeting him.
