Since reports of the Duchess's return to the UK surfaced, speculation has swirled over whether she'll join the cast of Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen season 3. Now one of the cast members of The Gentlemen has weighed in on the same.
Kaya Scodelario, who plays Susie Glass in the Netflix crime drama, was recently asked about reports of Markle's casting in the show during her appearance on the 3rd Hour of Today. The British actress revealed, “I, unfortunately, have no decision-making abilities. I wish I did." Giving nothing away, she continued, “I’d love to cast the show myself. I’d put all my friends in it.” However, Scodelario did keep the hope of Markle's appearance in the show alive.
She elaborated on how The Gentlemen has had several characters join in as guest actors, teasing the possibility of Markle appearing in the show. “I think what’s wonderful about our show is we have these characters pop up, and we get these great guest actors come in, sprinkle a little bit of their magic into the characters and make really memorable scenes about them, and it’s one of the things I love most about the show," she shared. The actress continued, “We have wonderful guest actors in season 2, but yeah, the more the merrier. Everyone come have a go. You guys, come have a go.”
This is not the first time a cast member of The Gentlemen has reacted to the ongoing rumor of Markle entering the show. Previously, Theo James, during a conversation with Digital Spy, shared, “Well, I think that is just a rumor; I don’t even know the practicalities of how one would make that happen.” During an interview with Town & Country, he joked, “Yes, Fergie is joining. She’ll be playing my love interest,” referencing former Duchess Sarah Ferguson by her nickname.
Elaborating on the casting approach for the next season of the show, he noted, “I think that was mainly a lot of hot air. At the moment, we’re just trying to get as many eyes on season 2, and then season 3 will happen soon. But in terms of story, we have the overarching ambition of where we’re going to go. We’re going to expand the world, go to different countries.” However, he did not completely deny the possibility of Markle joining the cast. James added, “But in terms of the minutiae, I mean, it’s still very much up in the air.”
