Harry and Meghan Should 'Never Come Back To England' After Kris Jenner's Party, Says Insider
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might have stepped down as senior royals in 2020, but their every move is still closely followed. Their latest appearance has stirred more debate than usual after they attended Kris Jenner’s starry 70th birthday bash in Beverly Hills. The event took place on Remembrance Sunday, a solemn moment in the UK. While the couple arrived hand in hand without fuss, their presence among Hollywood’s elite prompted strong reactions from royal circles back home.
After being called ‘tacky’ and at odds with royal values, now their night out is being called ‘unconscionable.’ According to a report shared by NewsNation, one Palace insider said the couple’s appearance at the Jenner party was in poor taste. "The day we remember our war heroes, our veterans — of which Harry is one — and he goes off to a ball!" they exclaimed. The source also remarked that it was ‘galling’ and suggested the pair should “never come back to England.” The party, hosted by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, drew some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, which only increased public interest in the Sussexes’ decision to attend.
Images from the evening showed Markle in a sleek black gown and Harry in a sharp tuxedo with a red poppy on his lapel to mark the weekend. The Duchess did not wear any symbol of remembrance, which only added to the criticism online. Some observers also noted that Markle appeared completely at ease at the event, sharing a hearty laugh with billionaire socialite Kim Kardashian and warmly embracing Jenner. An insider quoted by Page Six explained that the Duchess of Sussex was in full ‘networking mode.’ Their images soon made their way on social media, but they disappeared shortly afterward.
Jenner and Kardashian had posted photographs with the couple. However, they later deleted the same to avoid misunderstanding in the UK during Remembrance Week, as per TMZ. The NewsNation insider revealed that the couple may have welcomed the attention. They opined that Beyonce and Jay-Z entered the event through a side door to maintain privacy, adding, "If Harry and Meghan didn’t want attention, they should have just asked for the side door. But then again — Meghan loves the cameras." The remark once again raised questions about whether the couple is embracing the kind of public visibility they previously seemed to step away from when leaving the UK.
Not everyone agreed with the criticism. Royal commentator Jack Stookes told GB News that accusations of disrespect were misplaced. He said, “I don't feel that where they are they need to be sort of locked away and hidden out of sight,” also adding, “Meghan was doing nothing wrong. Harry was doing nothing wrong. I mean, Harry wasn't out, you know, on the 11th, having a massive party.” There was also another factor beneath the surface for the couple’s attendance at the party. Amazon MGM, led by Bezos, is producing Markle’s upcoming rom-com Close Personal Friends, so her presence may have been both social and professional.
