Meghan Markle's Reason To Attend Kris Jenner’s Party Revealed by Insider: 'She Schmoozed a Lot'
There was nothing ordinary about Kris Jenner's 70th birthday. The guest list alone could have filled a Hollywood award show, yet it was Meghan Markle who dominated headlines. While others arrived to toast the ‘momager’ on her big milestone, the Duchess of Sussex appeared to be treating it as more than just a social gathering. She was seen confidently smiling and posing for pictures, as if reaffirming her place within their circle. Insiders close to the event have since claimed she was in full ‘networking mode,’ quietly seeking new opportunities.
“She was definitely in networking mode,” an insider told Page Six, adding, “She schmoozed with a lot of power players." The source described the Duchess as ‘cool’ and at ease among the A-list guests who filled Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s $165 million Beverly Hills estate. The party was James Bond themed and featured Jenner in a dazzling red Givenchy gown. Meanwhile, Markle opted for a sleek black turtleneck gown paired with golden earrings. Prince Harry, for his part, chose a black tuxedo adorned with a red poppy in honor of Remembrance weekend.
After the event, what became the talking point were the photographs of the Sussexes, which were seemingly deleted from both Jenner and Kim Kardashian's social media. A source told TMZ that the decision was made because “they thought it might be better to delete the images rather than push something that could get picked up and misconstrued across the pond,” since it was Remembrance week in the UK.
The Sussexes partying with America's elite stirred conversations in royal circles, with one Palace insider calling Harry and Markle’s glamorous night ‘tacky’ and in poor taste. “It’s so tacky. It truly shows that Harry is so far removed from the rest of the family. These people may be stars in America, but the pure ostentatiousness is at odds with what Prince William is trying to do with his life and the monarchy,” the source argued. As the royal family gathered for Remembrance services in London, Harry and Markle’s appearance in Beverly Hills seemed to underline the path they have chosen for themselves.
However, not everyone agrees with this view. Royal commentator Jack Stooks told GB News that there was ‘nothing wrong’ with the Sussexes attending social events. “I don't feel that where they are they need to be sort of locked away and hidden out of sight,” he said, dismissing claims that the pair disrespected the occasion. He continued, “Meghan was doing nothing wrong. Harry was doing nothing wrong. I mean, Harry wasn't out, you know, on the 11th, having a massive party.” Interestingly, there may have been another reason behind their attendance.
Bezos’s Amazon MGM is reportedly producing Markle’s forthcoming rom-com Close Personal Friends. This would be her first acting role in eight years, making her presence at Jenner’s birthday bash, at the billionaire's estate, both a social and career obligation.
