The prince was spotted with a pal, who wore a red shirt.
Frederick and Mary share four children: Prince Christian, 16, Princess Isabella, 14, and twins Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent, both 10.
That same trip, Mary was spotted taking a dip in the ocean.
Frederick was supposed to attend the Tokyo Olympics, but he had to call it off.
“His Royal Highness the Crown Prince has had to cancel his participation in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, as the Crown Prince is in close contact with a person infected with COVID-19," a statement read. "Due to stricter entry requirements at the Olympic Games, this means that the crown prince does not have the opportunity to travel to Japan."
On Monday, August 9, Frederick greeted the athletes once they returned home from Asia.
"The Danish Olympic athletes have returned from the Japanese capital Tokyo, and tonight they were hailed at a reception at the Experimentarium in Hellerup by, among others, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister 🇩🇰," a post read. "Measured by the number of medals, the recently concluded Olympics is the second best Danish Olympics since 1948. As many as three gold medals, four silver medals and four bronze medals were won, and at the reception, the Crown Prince congratulated the medal recipients and the other athletes on their sports and sports achievements."
"In his speech at the reception, His Royal Highness said, among other things: 'We have followed you closely from home - we have roared, cried, smiled and fought with you,'" the message continued. "In two weeks, the Paralympic Games will begin, where Denmark will once again compete in disciplines from all over the world."
