William and Kate Share Behind-the-Scenes Ascot Portrait — and It Looks Straight Out of a Fairytale
This time around, William and Kate traded their usual picture-perfect poise for a rare, candid look.
As the five-day Royal Ascot festival gets underway, the royal family is out in full force — but it was Princess Kate who truly stole the show. Making her highly anticipated return to the event following her cancer diagnosis, all eyes were on her. While royal enthusiasts were captivated by her elegance and grace, it was a rare, behind-the-scenes photograph of Kate and Prince William—shared directly by the palace—that ultimately stole the public's heart.
Known for their poise and picture-perfect portraits, the Prince and Princess of Wales did something unexpected this time. While the Kensington Palace posts polished portraits, this time they gave us a rare glimpse into a candid image of the future King and Queen. Sharing the photo on X, the palace captioned it with, “A wonderful day at Royal Ascot. W & C.”
In a new photo released by Kensington Palace, the Prince and Princess of Wales pose outside their home near Windsor Castle ahead of the Royal Ascot. Standing in front of a sunlit, large-windowed building, the couple looks entirely relaxed. Making her first Ascot appearance since 2024, Kate is seen sharing a joyful smile with William, who looks toward the camera with a warm grin, holding his top hat and umbrella.
Netizens in awe of the couple’s BTS portrait took to the comment section to shower them with love. A user wrote, “So good to see you both happy!” While another added, “They are both the epitome of style & grace. The bright yellow is fantastic and makes Catherine stand out even more, and William is the perfect accompaniment to her look!!!” A third commented, “Oh my gosh, my heart fluttered when I saw the picture,” while a fourth said, “That dress and colour are stunning.”
Princess Kate's vibrant look was an instant hit, with one fan raving, “Seriously, that yellow is fabulous.” The Princess opted for a bow-adorned Roksanda dress—a conscious rewear from her 2022 royal tour of Jamaica. Clearly a favorite wardrobe staple, Kate also famously wore the lemon-yellow piece to Wimbledon in 2022. This time, however, she gave the ensemble a fresh update. She styled the dress with a matching Jane Taylor London hat and nude Gianvito Rossi heels, accessorizing with sentimental family heirlooms: Princess Diana’s Nigel Milne three-strand pearl bracelet and Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond chandelier earrings.
