Lady Louise Seemingly Steps Out in Kate’s Royal Hand-Me-Down at Windsor Horse Show [Photos]
Lady Louise sparked commotion at the Royal Windsor Horse Show after appearing to be wearing one of Princess Kate’s favorite jumpers.
Lady Louise Windsor became the talk of the town after attending the Royal Windsor Horse Show last weekend. The royal has been spotted at the event many times over the years, showing off her skills. But this time, rather than being praised for her natural carriage riding talent, the focus shifted to something unusual about her appearance.
The daughter of Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie kept things quite practical on Friday, wearing brown boots with a checked maxi skirt and a white coat. But one detail that stood out was her Fair Isle jumper from Holland Cooper, a label that has become quite popular with the royals. What caught fans’ attention is that Princess Kate also owns the very same knit and has worn it on several occasions over the years.
The Nordic-style sweater has embroidered detailing around the neckline and sleeves, finished with bold gold buttons. After Kate wore it several times, it became Holland Cooper’s standout piece over time. She first wore the cozy knit back in 2022 when she appeared on CBeebies to read The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark. She later repeated the look in 2023 during a surprise appearance ahead of her ‘Together at Christmas’ carol concert.
There is a chance the jumper did not end up in Louise’s wardrobe by accident. The royals have long been known for getting plenty of wear out of their clothes instead of constantly buying new pieces. The Princess of Wales, especially, has built a reputation for bringing back old favourites and investing in classic styles that last for years. The same goes for Zara Tindall, with both royals often embracing the idea of reusing and passing pieces around within the family.
Previously, Louise had been spotted in pieces that she seemed to have borrowed from her mother’s wardrobe. So it is possible that the knit was just another royal hand-me-down, perhaps even from Kate herself. This truly shows the royal family’s long-standing habit of rewearing and sharing clothes instead of treating fashion as disposable. Jen Graham, a charity shopper, said, “When even the royals rewear, relove, and reshare, it sends the strongest message that sustainability is the future of fashion.”
The 22-year-old’s carriage driving skills led her to be compared with none other than Queen Elizabeth herself. She confidently showed off during the International Carriage Driving Competition at Home Park, looking completely at ease behind the reins. Given the late Queen’s well-known love for horses and carriage driving, it was hard not to notice the similarities between the two royals.
