William May Be Ready to Forgive Harry — But Kate and Meghan Remain the Real Problem, Sources Claim
The two brothers might unite after all, but the same cannot be said for Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton as of yet.
After five long years, the royal rift may finally be heading towards healing as new reports suggest that Prince William is ready to meet his younger brother, Prince Harry, when he visits the UK in July with Meghan Markle and their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. While a royal reunion was speculated to be on the cards as King Charles had reportedly wanted to meet his grandkids, it was said that William and Kate Middleton would play no part in it. However, the story has taken a new curve yet again, giving every Christopher Nolan narrative a run for its money.
Royal journalist, Rob Shuter, quoted a source in his Naught But Nice Substack, who said, “William knows this visit is bigger than old arguments. His father wants to see Archie and Lilibet, and William understands why that matters.” Reports have recently surfaced claiming that Harry and Markle will be staying at a royal residence when they arrive in the UK next month. For the longest time, it was suggested that Balmoral could set the stage for the royal reunion. It seems that the Duke of Sussex can now expect his elder brother to wait for him at the Scottish castle, in what can only be a recreation of their childhood summer days.
While the two brothers may be willing to mend their relationship, the same can’t be said about Markle and Middleton. An insider told Shuter, “Nobody is putting pressure on Catherine or Meghan. If they see each other, great. If they don’t, that’s okay too.” There had been significant friction between the two sisters-in-law when the Sussexes were still in the UK. Harry had mentioned a few instances in his bombshell memoir, Spare, where reported cultural differences played a part in creating a divide between his wife and the Princess of Wales. But it is left to be seen whether the duo can overcome their differences next month.
Archie and Lilibet are the key focus and, in many ways, the catalysts behind the royal reconciliation. Although the siblings have visited the UK before, they reportedly have no connection to their first cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. “Everyone agrees it would be wonderful if the children could spend time together. But right now the focus is simply making the visit happen,” a source said.
The Sussexes don’t exactly share a problem-free relationship with the royals. Over the past few years, the couple has directed unrelenting criticism towards the institution, through the Oprah Winfrey interview, Netflix docu-series, and the memoir. But regardless, when William reportedly meets Harry next month, it won’t be to settle “scores”. A source said, “This isn’t about settling scores. It’s about taking a small step forward. William is prepared to see Harry. Everything else remains a work in progress.”
The Sussexes are crossing the pond to celebrate the 100-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. This will be Archie and Lilibet’s first visit to their father’s home country since 2022. Although the prince was born in the UK, he was raised in Montecito.
