Will Kate Middleton Return to Wimbledon? Royal Fans Hope for Another Royal’s Debut at Mega Event

It is no secret that Kate Middleton loves tennis, a passion she inherited from her family. As patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, she’s a regular face at Wimbledon. However, this year her attendance at the mega event remains doubtful after she suddenly canceled her appearance at Royal Ascot on June 17, reportedly to balance recovery and public duty.
The Princess of Wales was initially listed as one of the guests for the Royal Ascot carriage procession. But just two hours before the event, the Palace clarified that the racecourse had mistakenly included her on the list. An insider told the Daily Beast that Middleton and Prince William are simply not that interested in horse racing. The source added that if it were an event she genuinely enjoyed, like Wimbledon, she might have likely attended. This has left many wondering whether she will really attend the 2025 Wimbledon matches — an event she's only missed once during her first pregnancy.

The Princess has also passed her love for tennis to her children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who have been seen cheering beside their mom at Wimbledon matches. George made his Wimbledon debut in 2022, while Charlotte made hers in 2023. Royal watchers, however, eagerly await cheeky Prince Louis to join his mom at Wimbledon. Last year, royal fans expressed their disappointment at not seeing the mischievous Prince at Wimbledon. On X (formerly Twitter), a netizen remarked, "George gets Euros final... Charlotte gets Wimbledon final... Justice for Prince Louis!" In a similar vein, another echoed, "Prince Louis at the moment: Waiting patiently for his turn to hang out with mum and dad." Meanwhile, a royal watcher penned, "Probably hanging out with Pippa’s kids while the mums are in Wimbledon." As the comments poured in, a fan opined, "A joyful young man, 🥰 waiting his turn❤️."
With regards to Middleton's appearance at the mega event, royal expert Rebecca English reported that the Princess is 'very likely' to attend Wimbledon after skipping Royal Ascot. As per GB News, royal sources also indicate she is "very likely to attend the tennis tournament in the next two weeks," to present trophies to the men's and women's singles champions at the finals. Her anticipated appearance would also highlight her dedication to her patronage, as she keeps her public engagements on the down low to focus on her recovery.
One cannot imagine Wimbledon without mentioning the standing ovation the Princess of Wales received at the 2024 men’s final. As per The Sun, Middleton was greeted with thunderous applause as she arrived at Centre Court’s Royal Box, accompanied by Charlotte and sister Pippa. It marked her second public appearance following her cancer treatment and chemotherapy. Considering her ardent commitment to her favorite event, royal fans can only look forward to seeing Middleton at this year’s Wimbledon matches, hopefully with Louis also making his debut.
