West End Star Reveals Kate Middleton's Adorable Request for Princess Charlotte Backstage
A West End star has now revealed what happened when the young royals went backstage after watching her perform.
Princess Kate has been a doting mother to all her three kids, and over the years we have seen her share plenty of memorable moments with them, but one outing with Prince George and Princess Charlotte came with a particularly sweet request. A West End star has now revealed what happened when the young royals went backstage after watching her perform.
Recently, actress Zizi Strallen, who is currently starring as Glinda in Wicked, met the Princess of Wales and her children while performing as Mary Poppins. During an interview with HELLO!, the actress shared that the encounter left a lasting impression on her and recalled the adorable moment.
"Kate brought Prince George and Princess Charlotte to see Mary Poppins. They came backstage," Strallen shared. The actress continued that the Princess added, "She said to me: 'Would it be OK for Charlotte to have a cuddle with Mary Poppins?' I was like, 'Yes!' She wanted to hug me, which was really cute."
Strallen said the moment was especially memorable because Charlotte got the chance to meet the character she had just watched on stage. She also described Kate's request as part of a "surreal day" in her career and added that the royal family had attended the show in the afternoon, before another famous family arrived later that day.
Continuing to detail the day, she revealed how, following Kate, bigwigs like David and Victoria Beckham attended the evening performance with three of their children. "It was a surreal day, because they came in the afternoon, and then David Beckham and Victoria came in the evening with [their children] Harper, Romeo and Cruz," she shared.
Interestingly, Strallen had actually met Kate before her Mary Poppins performance. She first encountered the Princess at the Royal Variety Performance in 2019, when she was dressed as Mary Poppins. "My sisters take the mickey out of me for this, because there’s a video of me meeting Kate at the Royal Variety Performance in 2019; I'm dressed as Mary Poppins, and as she walks away, I do the most awkward little-girl wave," she recollected. The actress admitted she was impressed by Kate when they met, saying, "I was bowled over by how tall, statuesque and stunning she was, and she and William were so normal."
