A royal expert explained that this senior royal enjoys spending time at her Raymill residence during the weekends but joined the King at Highgrove out of loyalty.
Prince Harry and King Charles have been sharing a rocky few years. Last week, the Sussexes made a strong statement after being invited to an intimate family gathering with the monarch. In what must have been an emotional reunion for the King in his capacity as a grandfather, since he spent time with his youngest grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The meeting was strictly confidential, with the palace not releasing any details or photographs of the moment. However, according to reports, there was a third witness who was allowed to attend the gathering at Highgrove, and an expert believes it was a "non-negotiable" deal for Harry.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that Harry’s stepmother, Queen Camilla, was also present during the intimate family meeting. "She is a non-negotiable part of Charles’ life," royal author Catherine Mayer highlighted to PEOPLE! "There is no reconciliation with him without her." The Queen isn't exactly who the Duke expected to be there since the two share a rather cold relationship. Harry has been very vocal about her presence from the start; the Duke went to the extent of painting her as the villain in his 2023 memoir Spare.
He expressed complex emotions regarding her, claiming Camilla leaked stories about him to the press to improve her public image. Even further, Harry had famously referred to his mother, Princess Diana's iconic statement about Camilla being the "third person" during his appearance on Good Morning America in 2023. "We haven't spoken for a long time. I love every member of my family, despite the differences," the Duke had revealed during the interview while being questioned about his present equation with his stepmother.
The Duke further revealed that he did not have any hard feelings towards her and always greeted her with pleasantries when meeting in person. "I see someone who married into this institution, and done everything she can to improve her own reputation and her own image, for her own sake," he said. However, he did not mince his words when it came to discussing her relationship with the tabloids.
In his memoir, Harry expressed concerns about Camilla's growing influence stemming from her connections with the British press, highlighting a mutual willingness to exchange information. He warned that as she approached the role of Queen Consort within a hierarchical family, there could be negative consequences for others along the way. Meanwhile, royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital that "Camilla was right by the King's side" during the hour-long meeting with the Sussexes
