Sarah Ferguson Won’t Speak About Jeffrey Epstein on Television — And It’s All Because of Andrew
An insider says Sarah Ferguson won’t speak out despite pressure to share her side of the story.
Unlike Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Sarah Ferguson is reportedly uninterested in speaking about her controversial ties to Jeffrey Epstein on TV. A source has claimed that she is steering clear of repeating history, even after being relentlessly pursued to tell her side of the story. Despite allegedly being approached by BBC Newsnight, she prefers to stay out of the spotlight, wary of meeting the same fate as her former husband, who was butchered for his lack of accountability after his disastrous interview.
The aftermath of Mountbatten-Windsor's infamous 2019 Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis has allegedly given his ex-wife cold feet. Commenting on the same, the insider told The Sun, "She [Ferguson] has had a lot of offers, including from Newsnight, but is spending her time reflecting and has no intention of speaking out." The new revelations contrast previous reports, which alleged that the former Duchess of York would sit down with Oprah Winfrey, who has already interviewed her twice. A source previously revealed, "Andrew has had his chances to tell his story. Now it's Fergie’s time." However, her representatives reportedly felt that the risk of another 'Andrew car crash' was too high.
Interestingly, her team had sung a different tune when Ferguson was stripped of her titles and banished from Royal Lodge. At the time, an insider told The Sun, "She [Ferguson] and her team know a televised interview would be make or break for her in terms of salvaging her reputation. It would also give her the chance to spell out the fact she knew nothing about what Epstein and his associates were doing." This decision was reportedly taken to help propel her into the public's good graces and improve her alleged precarious financial situation, after her books were 'pulped' following the exposure of her scandals.
It's safe to assume that the royal family will finally catch a breather, at least for now, considering that Ferguson has allegedly dropped her plans to air her dirty laundry on TV. As for her poor financial situation, last year, copies of her children's book, Flora and Fern: Kindness Along the Way, were removed from publishing. An insider stressed, "She [Ferguson] has to find money and somewhere to live next year. Sarah is bruised like never before by events, and things like the book being pulped have damaged her income."
Meanwhile, while her ex-husband is holed up in Marsh Farm, Ferguson was recently spotted in the Austrian Alps, marking her first public appearance after hiding for seven months. As reported by The Sun, on April 16, she was photographed standing by a van in a remote mountain hideaway, dressed in dark pants, a blue jacket, and a white baseball cap over her hair. An insider spilled, "The area is absolutely beautiful, and it's very quiet most of the time, so it's the perfect place for a high-profile figure such as her to lie low when the heat is on."
