Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., has been accused of child s*xual abuse after his son submitted evidence to the authorities. The case has now taken a new turn, with the 82-year-old facing legal proceedings in Florida.

Markle Sr. appeared before a federal court in Florida on Friday, November 6, following his arrest on a charge of possessing child pornography. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California confirmed he faces one count in the case.
During his appearance at the federal courthouse in Tampa, Florida, Thomas Sr. did not enter a plea, according to a Justice Department statement. A date for his California arraignment has yet to be announced. The court allowed Markle Sr. to return to the Florida care facility where authorities had taken him into custody, without requiring him to post bail.
However, his release came with a condition: he must surrender his passport. The BBC also noted that he arrived for the hearing in a wheelchair, wearing a black T-shirt with a cartoon cat sipping iced coffee.

According to the Justice Department, investigators allege that the Duchess’ estranged father kept s*xually explicit images involving prepubescent girls in two Los Angeles-area storage units that he had reportedly rented for nearly 20 years. Authorities searched the facilities after a witness submitted a sworn statement claiming that Markle Sr. had suspected child s*xual abuse material at his home in the Philippines and had also been renting a storage unit in California.
The allegations were brought to authorities by the Suits star’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., who claimed his father had hundreds, possibly thousands, of suspected child sexual abuse images at his Philippine residence. A federal criminal complaint states that investigators subsequently secured search warrants after receiving the information and establishing that Thomas Sr. also had two storage units in the Los Angeles area.

First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli released a statement saying, “Mr. Markle is accused of possessing child sexual abuse material, including photographs depicting himself with minor girls. These allegations are extremely serious, and we will prosecute Mr. Markle to the fullest extent of federal law.”
