Royal Expert Says Charles and William Are Orchestrating a Calculated Strategy Against Harry

The past few months in the royal orbit have been a never-ending maze. What started as a simple news about Prince Harry’s visit to Birmingham in July to mark the 100-day countdown of the 2027 Invictus Games has now blown up into a full-fledged family drama. With every significant royal having a role to play. Harry, the wronged prince. King Charles, the ailing grandfather, who wants to meet his grandkids, and Prince William, the dutiful future monarch, who wants to protect his country and wants accountability.  What follows is a number of news stories and counter-stories, all swirling and floating around, until finally landing on one question: who is tipping the scale and the newspapers in the ongoing UK visit saga.

Royal expert Amanda Matta, in her new essay on The Fascinator Substack, put each story about the upcoming July visit under a microscope. “Look at the order in which elements of the story broke,” she wrote, before pointing out that it was Bronte Coy who first reported the trip through news.com.au, hours before The Telegraph confirmed it. “Coy was part of the press pack following Harry and Meghan’s recent trip to Australia,” she noted.

Royal expert, Tom Sykes of The Royalist, had mentioned on his Substack, “Look at the original framing of Coy’s story and it pretty obvious where the story came from. The emphasis was on Harry’s “great sadness” at being unable to bring his wife and children to his homeland, his desire to show them where he grew up and introduce them to his wider family. It was framed entirely in emotional terms, which is exactly the way the Sussex operation likes to present these things.” But beyond the initial news, the Sussexes seemingly have little to no control over the reports published across the pond.

The royal family saga has a dramatic way of playing out, and one recent news hit the nail on the head - Harry's fight to get automatic police protection for his family in the UK. It was recently reported that Charles had offered his younger son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids security and a royal residence. “It makes Charles look generous, and it makes Harry (who, as of this writing, still hasn’t responded) look like the one leaving a hand outstretched. The Sussexes would never volunteer this framing themselves; it casts them as unresponsive.” Matta wrote, before adding, “Whoever briefed it understood that putting the King’s generosity on the record forces Harry to answer on the King’s terms.”

Then another news hit the stands. The Daily Mail recently called Harry and Markle’s decision to bring their kids to the UK as “emotional blackmail”, hinting that another player had entered the game. “It’s the exact vocabulary that William’s allies have been using privately for at least a week,” Matta noted, before adding “(The phrase) plants the idea that a soft-hearted father is being manipulated by a son using his own children as leverage.”

In the end, whether the royal reunion will actually happen will only be known once the Sussexes land at Heathrow. But until then, this constant push and pull indicates only one thing, as Matta wrote, “It's Charles's court and William's court briefing against each other, with the same papers as the battlefield.”
