Princess Kate's Latest Outing Proves She Is the Royal ‘Superglue’ for Charles and William: Butler

Former royal butler hails Princess Kate as the Royal Family’s stabilizing force following her 2026 Easter appearance at Windsor.

After a three-year hiatus that left royal watchers questioning the stability of the monarchy, Princess Kate made a triumphant return to the Easter Sunday service at St. George’s Chapel. Though her appearance offered a visual masterclass of coordinated style, its real significance, as per experts and insiders, was to provide emotional and structural support to a family navigating various scandals and health recoveries.

Former butler of the royal household, Grant Harrold — who served King Charles for nearly seven years — notes that the Princess of Wales’ presence does far more than just please the crowds; it acts as a stabilizing force for the monarch himself. The former butler also highlighted that Kate’s attendance at the service likely relieved a significant amount of 'pressure' for Prince William. “He likes it when they are together, and you can tell he’s more confident with his wife by his side. It makes a big, big difference to the family when Kate is there,” he said, as reported by Marie Claire.

Marking a significant milestone, the 2026 Easter appearance saw the Wales family return to tradition. Following the Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis in early 2024 and a private celebration in Norfolk in 2025, her presence at the chapel alongside her family signaled a definitive return to normalcy. The Princess appeared radiant in a sophisticated beige Self-Portrait blazer — a thoughtful rewear from 2022 — which perfectly complemented the tan Catherine Walker coat worn by Princess Charlotte.

Reflecting on her recovery, Harrold mentioned how much the crowd has missed her presence at major events. “People have missed seeing her at key events in recent years,” he noted, adding that she is back “where she should be” at the forefront of royal life. While the world celebrates the Princess of Wales as a global fashion icon, the former butler reveals her true strength lies in her pragmatic role behind Palace walls. Describing her as the ‘superglue’ of the family, he called her a practical and dependable force within the monarchy, especially after recent controversies, including the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. For him, Kate has become the bridge that keeps the family’s core intact. “She’s like the superglue…She’s very good at keeping everyone talking and keeping everyone together.”

Her role as the Royal Family’s ‘superglue’ is perhaps the most evident in her relationship with her father-in-law. As King Charles deals with the dual challenges of his reign — including his ongoing cancer treatment and fallout due to the Andrew Epstein scandal — his bond with Kate has emerged as a key pillar of strength. “She also offers a really strong and solid support to her in-laws, especially the King,” Harrold said, adding, “They are very close and enjoy spending time together.”

Kate’s gradual return to the spotlight over the past two years has been a calculated effort to restore the public’s faith in the Crown. Since sharing the news of her remission in January 2025, her increasing presence at high-profile events serves as a strategic signal of institutional stability.
