Kate Middleton’s Gorgeous Easter Look Carried a Quiet Tribute to Queen Elizabeth

Over the years, Kate Middleton has used fashion as a subtle yet meaningful way to honor both Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana on several occasions. From state banquets to remembrance services, she often adds certain heirloom pieces into her looks, such as Diana’s iconic engagement ring and pearl earrings. These choices reflect long-standing tradition and respect. Recently, while attending the Easter Sunday service at St. George's Chapel, the Princess of Wales once again captured everyone's attention with a confident appearance that paid tribute to the late Queen.
As reported by InStyle, Kate wore a beautiful cream Self-Portrait midi dress—an outfit she had previously worn during an engagement with Princess Anne—for the occasion. To elevate the look further, she accessorized with the late Queen’s Bahrain Pearl Drop earrings. These earrings were crafted from pearls gifted to the then-Princess Elizabeth in 1947 by the Hakim of Bahrain as a wedding gift. It features round diamond studs, with a mix of round and baguette-cut diamonds hanging below in an Art Deco design, finished with two Bahrain pearls.
Previously, in 1982, this adorable pair was gifted to Diana by the late Queen, after just a year of her marriage to the then-Prince Charles. However, since 2016, Kate has worn the earrings on several occasions. For instance, she wore the same earrings just last month at the annual Commonwealth Day service held on March 9 at Westminster Abbey. Speaking of Elizabeth's pearl jewelry collection, Bethan Holt, a fashion expert, said, “Pearls are one of the very few jewelry items you can wear in mourning and are inextricably linked with Queen Elizabeth and her personal jewelry legacy. It’s a symbol of mourning a monarch, but also a grandmother or great-grandmother.”
Similarly, another British jeweler, Claudia Bradby, said, "[The earrings’] power lies in the fact that they aren’t overwhelming. It’s a subtle and slightly restrained look and, of course, the connection to the Queen is incredibly strong.” Meanwhile, apart from the dress and the earrings, Kate also wore a new custom wide-brim hat by Sean Barrett, a simple cross necklace, and carried a chic handbag from DeMellier London. A body language expert, Darren Stanton, even claimed that the Princess's posture and the way she walked clearly showed her confidence and happiness.
Stanton said, “She was smiling at the cameras with William—he was also walking with a confident stride.” He then went on to add, “Kate and William were walking in unison, matching and mirroring each other even with their strides, showing great strength and solidarity, showing that this is the shape of things to come with them at the forefront, confident and together as a unit.” Their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, were in attendance as well.
