Prince William has yet to acknowledge his younger brother Prince Harry's return to the UK. It was expected that the Prince of Wales might wish the Duke a happy 42nd birthday today; however, William has been busy carrying out royal engagements in Princetown, Devon (Dartmoor). Royal experts believe William has closed the doors of reconciliation and that the estranged brothers might not be seen together in the future.

"William’s view is clear — any relationship his father has with Harry or the Sussexes as a family is entirely up to him," royal author Russell Myers said, according to Page Six. "But looking toward the future, he will have no relationship with them, in a working or private capacity whatsoever." However, Myers asserted that William and King Charles are fully aligned in their decision that the Sussexes will not represent the royal family, reflecting their complete unity on this issue.

Recently, the monarch sent out a guidance letter reminding various officials that the Sussexes were not 'working royals' now that they are back in the UK; the letter also referred to them as 'private citizens.' Meanwhile, experts noted that the Prince and Princess of Wales are focusing on their priorities while intentionally distancing themselves from the Sussexes' media controversies. Ailsa Anderson, former press secretary to Queen Elizabeth, noted their desire to avoid distractions. However, royal historian Amanda Foreman cautioned that this avoidance may turn challenging for the royal couple.

Foreman noted that William and Middleton will constantly be aware of external scrutiny and will need to adapt their responses accordingly. He emphasized that there will be persistent inquiries, such as the state of reconciliation with Harry. Additionally, royal author Simon Vigar noted that the Waleses have adopted a "keep calm and carry on" approach to dealing with the Sussexes. A palace source reported that tensions between the two couples are taking a toll on the Waleses, making William understandably cautious.

Anderson emphasized that their children will not have a relationship with Sussex kids in the near future, citing a significant breakdown of trust. "Let’s hope it’s not broken completely, and there’s a chink in the armor on both sides, and there could be some sort of reconciliation. But that’s not happening anytime soon," she noted.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle posted a sweet birthday note to Harry, saying, "He’s simply the best. Happy birthday, my love," and shared intimate family moments from their lives on Instagram. Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace refrained from posting public birthday messages, adhering to the guideline that such posts are reserved for senior working royals. William kept himself busy by launching the Princetown Community Fund and met with the locals for an engaging conversation.
