Prince William's Response to a Fan About His 'Forever' Home Proves He's the Funniest Royal

When William chatted with the Ubele staff, a worker asked if she could visit him at Forest Lodge, prompting a quick-witted response.

Prince William, as the future King, is expected to remain stoic and poised during public engagements, but he often breaks that unspoken rule to make people feel at ease. Known for enjoying a laugh with the people he meets, he showed his lighter side once again during a visit to the Ubele Initiative in Wood Green on January 28. As he chatted with staff, one worker cheekily asked if she could visit him at his 'forever' home, Forest Lodge, prompting a quick-witted response that proved the Prince is always game for a joke.

William's visit saw him meet Ubele staff and young people involved in the BBC Children in Need's We Move FWD program. As per HELLO!, Christina Oredeko, a Ubele staff worker, mentioned that her family lived in Windsor, near Forest Lodge, hinting that they would love to visit the Prince someday. In response, William quipped, "Are you inviting your family to stay? Should we talk diaries and work out timings?" He added, "It's not the maddest question I've ever been asked!" He then asked where exactly her family lives in Windsor, prompting more laughter from onlookers.

Later during the visit, the Prince of Wales encouraged a group of photographers to break boundaries and promote their creative skills after viewing their work. Among those he met were Jeremiah, 16, and Elijah, 14, both regulars at the Society for the Advancement of Black Arts (SABA) in north-west London. The teens proudly showed him an exhibition of their photos displayed inside one of Ubele's greenhouses, chatting about photography skills and the importance of having confidence. After meeting the Prince, Elijah told reporters, "You don't have many famous people coming here and (for) the future King to come and see us and see art that we have done… It is truly inspiring."

The Prince also chatted with youngsters from the Thurrock African Group and radio presenter Richie Brave about their community radio and the importance of talking about need-of-the-hour topics. He said, "Everyone wants to fire off a quick text on social media. For me, talking about stuff is always the best way. If you don't talk about it, we bottle it up, and it's always worse." Before winding up his meaningful albeit busy visit, he gave Ubele chief executive Yvonne Field a kiwi plant for one of the greenhouses.

As for William's penchant for jokes, this isn't the first time his cheeky quips have made the public laugh. During a visit to HMS Glasgow on May 22, a video on X (formerly Twitter) captured William and Kate Middleton passing by fans who had gathered to catch a glimpse of them. One fan shouted to the Princess, "You're beautiful." Realizing her unintentional snub, she added, "You too, William!" The Prince, who heard the fan, joked, "You don't have to say that. Don't worry." As the crowd burst into laughter, he placed his hand on Middleton's arm in a sweet gesture.
