Prince William Tells Young Spider-Man to 'Make a Splash' During Hastings Visit
William recently shared a heartwarming moment with a little boy dressed as Spider-Man, once again showing the warm side of his personality.
While Prince Harry is in the U.K. for the first time in years, we spotted him spending time with ailing kids at Birmingham Children's Hospital. While the visual took us back in time as we could see Princess Diana through her youngest, her eldest was not behind. Fulfilling his duties, the future King, Prince William, visited the seaside town of Hastings. During the outing, the Prince of Wales shared a heartwarming moment with a little boy dressed as Spider-Man, once again showing the warm and approachable side of his personality.
William was recently in Hastings to meet local fishing communities and youth organizations to learn more about projects helping regenerate the historic seaside town. But it was his adorable exchange with four-year-old Arthur Turney that stole the spotlight. As the Prince greeted well-wishers gathered along the seafront, he noticed Turney standing in the crowd wearing a full Spider-Man costume despite the hot summer weather.
Chatting with the youngster, William asked whether anyone was planning to cool off with a swim in the sea. To this, Turney shyly replied that he would go swimming "when I get older." With a smile, William encouraged the tiny superhero, saying, "Today is the chance to swim. Go and make a big splash!" The sweet remark left those nearby smiling and quickly became one of the most memorable moments from the visit. Watch the video here!
William's quick humor helped put everyone at ease and highlighted his natural connection with children, just like his mother, Princess Diana, and wife Kate Middleton, who is fondly regarded as the children's Princess due to her warmth and thoughtful nature towards kids.
Beyond the charming encounters, William's visit focused on supporting Hastings' local community. He arrived via the historic East Hill funicular railway before touring the town's famous fishing quarter. There, he met fishermen aboard the vessel Senlac Jack to hear about the challenges facing the UK's largest beach-launched fishing fleet. During the visit, he was also made an honorary member of the historic Hastings Winkle Club, a charitable organization that has served the community since 1900. Later, the Prince was also seen enjoying a friendly game at Hastings Adventure Miniature Golf alongside local young people before ending his day at Hastings Commons.
