As the future king of the U.K., Prince William is expected to bring other members of the royal family to the forefront by assigning them more duties. The Prince of Wales, during his reign, may also question his father's traditional approach to monarchy, while focusing on turning it more "modern" and contemporary.  One of the significant changes William is expected to bring includes handing over a key role, which "he is not comfortable with", to his cousin, Zara Tindall.  This move doesn't come as a surprise since William is said to have grown closer to his cousins since Harry left the U.K.

Even though William's reign is treated as an 'evolution' more than a 'revolution', the monarch will still be burdened with numerous responsibilities. Therefore, his close aide Tindall, who is known for her loyalty to the monarchy, may receive racing responsibilities for William. According to The Times, a source revealed that the prince is on board to delegate racing responsibilities to someone who could handle it.

Tindall, who is also a former Olympian equestrian, shares her love for horses just like her mother, Princess Anne, and grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth. On the other hand, William has ‘never felt comfortable’ with such a responsibility. The insider said, “I never get the feeling the whole top hat and racing is really his thing, and he’s said as much. He’s never really seemed comfortable doing it.”

An insider further explained that William “understands how important Ascot is, not just to the racing community but to UK plc.” However, he hasn't been involved with Royal Ascot and the royal stud at Sandringham as much as his predecessors. William and Tindall also share an amicable relationship and were spotted exchanging pleasantries during the recently held Royal Ascot. The Prince of Wales attended the event without Kate Middleton as she pulled out of it at the end minute.

Besides Tindall, more royal family members, who are not currently working royals, are expected to be assigned duties when some senior members step down due to their age during William’s reign. Anne’s son Peter Phillips, son-in-law Mike, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie are also expected to become working members when King Charles's son ascends to the throne.

Tindall has proved her loyalty to the monarchy and has consistently stood by the royal family during several events, despite not being a working royal. During HELLO! Magazine’s A Right Royal podcast, expert Robert Jobson argued that Tindall may never wish to work on a payroll. He said, “I do think that it's about money. The ones who are working are on the payroll. I don't think that's going to be the case in terms of the unofficial side of things. I think it'll be very much more informal.” The expert further explained, “For example, Zara has been very popular. You'll see her at Royal Ascot, you'll see her doing her own thing. She won't want to be limited commercially by people saying, 'Oh, she's a royal, she's working. She shouldn't be getting this deal or that too.' That would just complicate matters.”
