Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Planning More UK Visits as They Eye One Big Favor From Charles: Report
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be planning more UK meetings with King Charles as they look to build on their recent family reunion.
Prince Harry and King Charles are likely to meet more often, according to sources. The father met his younger son along with Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in a secret reunion at Highgrove last month. And according to new reports, they might continue to meet more often.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News, “Their plan is undoubtedly to see more of Britain, to come over more often and see more of the King.” He also said that Harry and Markle have their sights set on next year’s Invictus Games in Birmingham, with hopes that Charles could make an appearance at the event. “The Sussexes have been aiming for King Charles to attend for a long time."
However, Fitzwilliams also urged some caution, pointing out that having plans in place does not necessarily mean they will happen. He explained that although Charles’ wish to spend more time with his grandchildren could help, it is still unclear how that might work out.
A source recently revealed to the Daily Mail that Harry wants Charles to show up for the Invictus Games next year. The insider said, “Next year is a big deal for Harry. He is determined the Birmingham Games will be the best ever. It would mean the world to him to have his father there.”
Speaking exclusively to The Royal Observer, royal commentator Afua Hagan also said that Charles showing his support publicly could be a “brilliant” move for the worthwhile cause. Hagan added, “I think for King Charles to lend his support to the Invictus Games would be brilliant. Also, he'll be a father supporting his son and supporting his son in a very worthwhile endeavor”
Harry visited the U.K. last month to attend the one-year countdown event ahead of the 2027 Invictus Games along with a string of charity appearances. Although Markle was also supposed to join him, the plan fell through after the Prince was denied taxpayer-funded security for his family. Nevertheless, his family managed to join him for the trip later and met with Charles and Queen Camilla.
