Prince William and Princess Kate May Have Just Shown Us What Their Future Reign Could Look Like
Prince William and Princess Kate’s recent royal appearance may have quietly revealed their 'future blueprint' as King and Queen.
Prince William and Princess Kate have long been preparing for the throne, and recently, we saw a brief glimpse of what it would look like. The royal couple hosted a traditional garden party earlier this month, surrounded by their closest family and friends, following which royal expert Emily Andrews wrote on Woman and Home that this appearance served as a “future blueprint” for how things will eventually shape up to be.
The Buckingham Palace garden party was not just another date in the royal calendar. With Zara Tindall, Prince Edward, and Duchess Sophie by their side, William and Kate may have quietly given royal fans a glimpse of what their future reign could look like, while Andrews called the gathering “as good a snapshot as we’ll get for the Waleses’ future blueprint as King and Queen.” She suggested that this close-knit circle could stay firmly in place when the couple eventually takes the throne.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have become some of the future monarch’s most trusted allies, and Sophie is often described as Kate’s “royal sister.” Zara Tindall and her husband Mike are also firmly part of that close-knit circle, despite Tindall not being a working royal. Between the strong family ties and the young cousins, who always seem happy in each other’s company, the future monarchy appears unusually united. As Andrews put it, there is “a sense that everyone is working together, in a content and confident manner.”
The royal expert wrote that William is “very much in control of his image and destiny.” Even the family members he chooses to stand beside at major events, like the annual Palace garden party where he takes center stage, help tell that story. She also suggested that many of his choices are intentional, be it showing his undying love for the football team Aston Villa or his future plans for the Duchy of Cornwall.
Recently, William flew to Istanbul to watch Villa—his favorite team—finally end their 44-year-old European trophy drought after winning the Europa League against German team SC Freiburg. He could be seen celebrating big when the team won, alongside his friends and other fans of the club, and also congratulated the team on his social media page, writing, “Amazing night!! Huge congratulations to all the players, team, staff, and everyone connected to the club! 44 years since the last taste of European silverware!”
After Istanbul, he flew to the Isles of Scilly, which are part of the Duchy of Cornwall. Recent reports suggested that the prince is reportedly selling around 20% of the massive property to help fund housing projects and environmental initiatives, with roughly $668 million set to be invested. A few key areas will be focused on, including Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, Dartmoor, the Bath area, and Kennington in south London.
