Prince William and Harry’s Cousin Announces Engagement — With the Most Unconventional Wedding Ring
Daisy Knatchbull, the third cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry, also received a special shoutout from another royal couple.
Another royal wedding may be on the horizon for Prince William and Prince Harry as their third cousin, Daisy Knatchbull, announced her engagement to Giovanni Damiani on April 12. The fashion designer and the Italian music executive, who have been living together in London, shared the happy news on Instagram, drawing a wave of congratulatory messages from celebrities. Her post also spotlighted her unconventional sea turtle–shaped ring as she celebrated with friends and family on a beach.
William and Harry's cousin, who is the founder and CEO of the fashion design brand Knatchbull, announced the happy news with the caption, "Getting hitched 💍 (and making gift shop turtle rings a thing 🐢)," beaming beside her fiancé in a blue bikini. Two videos of the proposal also accompanied the carousel, with Damiani writing out, "Will you marry me?" in seaweed on the beach, as the couple shared a group hug with family and friends. The comments were filled with congratulatory messages from the likes of Sophie Turner, Nigella Lawson, and even a special shoutout from Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
Through her father's side, Knatchbull is the great-granddaughter of Louis Mountbatten, who was the late Prince Philip's uncle, making her a distant cousin of William and Harry. Her aunt, Penelope, was married to Norton Knatchbull, who was a close confidant to the late Duke of Edinburgh. As per PEOPLE, Penelope's first encounter with the late Queen and Duke was in 1974, with the pair bonding over their equestrian interests and outdoor activities. In the 2020 book, Prince Philip Revealed, royal author Ingrid Seward wrote that Penny, as she was called, became the "second-most important woman in the Duke of Edinburgh's life — a constant confidante, loyal companion and 'keeper of secrets.'"
As for the newly engaged Knatchbull, she is a renowned British fashion designer whose company was the first female-only tailor on London's Savile Row. Kate Middleton has also worn her designs, most notably donning a white ruffled blouse to the Future Workforce Summit in November 2025. The outfit seems to be a favorite of the Princess of Wales, as she had worn it in May while presenting the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design in London, and again at a Women's Rugby World Cup match in September.
Knatchbull's nuptials aren't the only upcoming royal wedding, as Princess Anne's son, Peter Phillips, also announced his plans to wed Harriet Sperling on June 6. As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, while the family bond remains, former royal butler Grant Harrold revealed that for the Prince of Wales, the reception will be frosty at best. He said, "If Harry and Meghan do attend the wedding, there will of course be tension. I wouldn't say Prince William and Kate will be happy about a reunion, but it is just a chance for the whole family to get together for a positive event."
