Prince Harry, during his recent visit to the UK, reportedly came dangerously close to learning what it means to not have enough police protection —something he has repeatedly emphasized since losing his state-funded security after his royal exit. A woman ‘fixated’ on him reportedly managed to breach his security, not once, but twice, thereby proving correct Harry's concerns about returning to the UK with his family.

According to the Daily Mail, the said woman was already known to Harry’s private security team, and appeared on the list of individuals deemed ‘obsessed’ with the Duke. Yet, she still managed to slip in, allegedly getting within a foot of him, at two separate events in London. The first incident took place on September 9 at the WellChild Awards, where she gained access to a ‘secure zone’ at his hotel, and found hiding in the bathroom waiting for the Duke. Two days later, she visited the Centre for Blast Injury Studies in West London, where she was intercepted by members of Harry’s private staff.

The troubling part is her reach. Reports suggest that the same women managed to follow Harry and Meghan Markle across continents, all the way to Nigeria, in May 2024, when the Duke and the Duchess visited the country. Her mental health condition remains unclear, but her obsession and determination, as have been described by sources, point to a level that security experts find deeply concerning.

While the Metropolitan police did offer protection for the WellChild Awards on September 9, mostly because children were attending, that coverage was reportedly a one-off decision made by senior officers on their own initiative. There was no such protection two days later, leaving Harry dependent entirely on his private team.

A source familiar with the royal security told PEOPLE!, “These incidents are not uncommon for members of the royal family. It differs, however, because there was no police presence or close protection — it was left to two staffers from his private office to intervene. This time, they got lucky. Relying on luck is not a long-term fix.”

Luck, of course, has never been part of Harry’s security strategy. Since stepping down as a working royal in 2020, he has fought a long and public legal battle to reinstate his state-funded protection in the UK. Earlier this year, he lost his appeal against the government’s Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC), which decides who qualifies for taxpayer-backed security. In May, Judge Sir Geoffrey Vos upheld the decision, saying it was reasonable for Harry’s protection to be reviewed, 'depending on the circumstances' of each visit.

“My worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case — and that’s really sad,” Harry had said following the verdict. The recent stalker incidents seem to validate those fears. For a man who is both the King’s son and fifth in line to the throne, security is about precedent. An insider stressed, “He’s one of the most recognizable people in the world. It feels like there’s an inevitable sense of foreboding over this whole issue.”
