Since stepping down as senior royals in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have pursued independent business ventures. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who vowed to be financially independent with their move to the US, seem to be thriving, having left royal life. Harry's net worth now reportedly stands at $60 million in 2025, almost double what he was worth in 2017, thanks in no small part to his wife’s savvy business acumen and an unlikely royal.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Markle’s net worth also stands at $60 million, matching that of her husband. As reported by the Royal Insider, a part of it comes from Harry and Markle's $100 million Netflix deal in 2020, which included their 2022 docu-series, Harry & Meghan. Around this time, the pair reportedly also struck a deal with Spotify, which was said to be worth $20 million. Shortly after, Markle launched her podcast series, Archetypes, in 2022, which ultimately ran only for 12 episodes.
The publication reports that Harry’s net worth significantly doubled after meeting Markle in 2016. Before meeting her, it stood at around $ 37.3 million. However, Markle cannot solely take credit for bolstering her husband's net worth. Both Harry and Prince William received an inheritance of $16 million in trust and estate from their late mother, Princess Diana, who passed away in 1997. Moreover, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother also left her beloved great-grandson a handsome $8.5 million, following her death in 2002. The Mirror also reports that the Queen Mother left Harry more money than his older brother, William.
The Sussexes also receive significant money from their other business ventures. In 2021, it was reported that Harry had signed a four-book deal with Penguin Random House worth up to $40 million. As part of the deal, in early 2023, he released his bombshell memoir, Spare, for which he received $20 million in advance. In late 2024, the Duke also launched a polo documentary with Netflix, whilst the Duchess’s cooking show, With Love, Meghan, premiered in March 2025. Additionally, Markle also has her lifestyle brand, As Ever, and her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, pumping in a lot of cash.
The Duchess of Sussex may have a valid reason for bolstering her husband’s net worth with her business-oriented mindset. Royal author Tom Bower revealed that Markle had always aspired to be a ‘celebrity billionaire,’ which allegedly created a lot of friction with Harry. The author in his book Yes Ma'am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants revealed that when she learned Harry’s net worth was only around £20 million, it was a wake-up call. As per the Irish Star, he penned, “Meghan Markle had a typically American view of the royal family before she joined it…As one royal staff member put it, 'She expected a billionaire and she got a millionaire.’” While Harry remains a millionaire, he’s certainly a wealthy one, thanks to his wife’s clever moves.
