Meghan Markle recently celebrated her 7th anniversary with Prince Harry and shared a sweet montage of photos with her fans to mark the big milestone. A lot has happened in the last seven years, including them stepping down from their royal duties, moving to the US, and losing a child. In recent months, the pair has made more solo appearances and pursued individual business ventures, which have fueled divorce rumors. Despite the speculation, the couple has asserted that they are very much still in love and in their 'honeymoon phase'. However, a royal expert has suggested otherwise, claiming the Sussexes are suffering from a ‘seven-year glitch.’
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told the Daily Mail that while Markle and Harry are still in love, they are now on separate paths in their professional lives. After exiting the royal family, the couple worked on collaborative ventures for a long time, but when things did not pan out well, the two allegedly focused on their individual brands and charities. He said, “Harry is increasingly finding himself as the spare in a relationship with Meghan, which undoubtedly involves mutual affection, but where their priorities differ widely.” The expert opined that the Duchess likes ‘glitz and glamor’ and would like to be a ‘billionaire influencer,’ but she has ‘very few A-list friends.’
Fitzwilliams, meanwhile, thinks Harry finds peace in his charity work and would continue to walk in that direction much like his mother. He said, “Invictus means a lot to him. It was a joy to see him at the WellChild Awards last year. He genuinely enjoyed being with the children, it seemed as though the ‘old Harry’ was temporarily back.” Moreover, after watching him give his Oprah interview, Fitzwilliams believes Harry ‘lacks Meghan’s ruthlessness.’ The expert added that Harry has made mistakes, including his “angry and resentful half-hour interview" with the BBC and his "ill-judged memoir, Spare.”
The Sussexes began several joint ventures after their 2020 royal exit, including their multi-million dollar Spotify and Netflix deals. The mixed reviews didn't live up to their expectations and forced them to diversify. Markle is now focused on her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, that has been renewed for a second season, and her new podcast, Confessions Of A Female Founder. As these ventures also drew some criticism, Fitzwilliams suggests that Markle work on her image and popularity. He said, “Her declining popularity in the United States is partly due to the bullying allegations which have dogged her, though she strongly denies them, and partly because, as was pointed out by critics of her With Love, Meghan cookery show, she is too self-obsessed.”
