Prince Harry May Have to Turn to King Charles for Help ― but Reconciliation Isn’t What He Wants

While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties back in 2020, they now have reportedly hit rock bottom, pushing the Duke into the most delicate conversations of his post-royal life. As per recent reports, Harry is preparing to seek financial help from King Charles as pressure mounts upon him and his wife behind the scenes. This has prompted new questions about the sustainability of the life he and Markle have built in California. While the alleged request is said to involve money, insiders claim the real prize the Prince is seeking may be far more valuable than a check.
According to sources cited by OK!, Harry has become increasingly open about the challenges he and Markle have been facing due to their reported $6 million expenditure. Detailing the same, a source told the publication, "Harry has become increasingly candid in the few conversations he is having on the phone with Charles and is no longer trying to put a brave face on the challenges he and Meghan are dealing with behind the scenes." They continued, "The reality is that the costs are enormous, and there is a growing feeling on Harry's side that the pressure has become relentless."
As per the report, Harry's and Markle's annual expenses are estimated at $6 million, and with their mortgage, media ventures, charity commitments, and business expenses, that figure is expected to climb even higher. The insider added that the Duke now sees the King as one of the few people capable of helping alter the couple's situation, both financially and in terms of their standing on the global stage. The insider detailed that Harry sees Charles not only as his father but as a figure of immense wealth and influence who can help alleviate their current pressures. Furthermore, with the upcoming 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham fast approaching, the Duke is facing immense pressure to stabilize his position.
"People in Harry and Meghan's circle have become increasingly aware that the enormous wave of attention and commercial interest they enjoyed after stepping away from royal duties is not what it once was," added the source. Faced with their plummeting fame and resources, the couple is reportedly hoping for help from the monarch. The source further detailed, "Those around Harry insist this isn't simply about him getting ready to ask Charles for money when he comes to Britain for the Invictus Games." Instead, the Duke is seeking something far more valuable than a cheque. "What he needs most from Charles isn't necessarily a financial rescue package but something far more powerful and symbolic," explained the insider.
However, the question remains: will King Charles give in to his youngest son's demands? "There are still many people within royal circles who feel Harry is asking for far more than can realistically be expected given everything that has happened over the past few years," added the source. While the monarch has a soft spot for his son, his brother, Prince William, is still 'hugely skeptical' about having any relationship with Harry.
