Harry and Meghan’s Anniversary Photos Feature a Trusted Face From William and Kate’s Inner Circle
In the first few anniversary photos, a special member of Prince William and Princess Kate's family is seen helping in the background.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle marked eight wonderful years of marriage on May 19. To celebrate the occasion, the Duchess of Sussex shared a nostalgic photo carousel on Instagram, filled with never-before-seen moments from their 'modern-fairy tale' wedding. While the dreamy pictures delighted royal fans, three of those carried a sweet connection to Prince William and Princess Kate's family. In the first few images, the Waleses' longtime nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, is seen helping the flower girls as Markle and Harry gaze into each other's eyes.
In the sweet photo carousel, Harry and Markle are seen standing inside the cloisters of St. George's Chapel, with several of their pageboys and flower girls behind them. Although Borrallo was Prince George and Princess Charlotte's nanny, she was seen organizing the children behind them, using her caretaking skills for the event. In the following images, she is seen conversing with Harry as King Charles looks on, and Markle dazzles in her Clare Waight Keller wedding dress. Borrallo, at the time, was looking after 4-year-old George and three-year-old Charlotte, and has been an important member of William and Kate's close family circle since 2014.
Borrello, who is originally from Spain and trained at the prestigious Norland College in Bath, is a favorite of William and Kate's oldest children and travels with the family on royal tours and events. A trusted figure in the Wales household, she was recently awarded the prestigious Royal Victorian Medal (Silver) for her services as part of Charles's New Year Honours list. She has also been called to help with pageboys and flowergirls for other weddings, as she was seen caring for them at Kate's sister, Pippa Middleton's, wedding to James Matthews at St. Mark's Church in Englefield in 2017.
As for Harry and Markle's dreamy (and steamy) anniversary pictures, along with Charles and Borrello, Sir Elton John also received a shoutout for singing at their wedding. Markle's long-time friend and PR adviser, Isabel May, was seen hugging the Duke. Other than the King, no other senior royal family members were featured amid growing tensions of their long-time rift. The images also featured the Sussexes raising a toast, sharing a sweet kiss, Harry giving a speech, and posing for photos as the crowd looked on.
And that's not all! The Duchess shared another goofy video on her stories in which she revealed a gift from her husband, which was a statue of two penguins hugging each other. She then followed it up with a throwback photo of them dressed in matching penguin costumes at their engagement party, adding a lighthearted touch to the anniversary posts. The present also included a card that read, "When momma and poppa got engaged, we had a party with all of our friends, and we said everyone had to wear an animal onesie and we were penguins." Reacting to the surprise, she exclaimed, "We were penguins because we are together for life."
