Meghan Markle Reveals Harry’s Sweet Anniversary Gift ― and It’s a Walk Down Memory Lane
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary in the most romantic way possible, with the latter also coming up with an nostalgic gift.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are celebrating eight years of marriage, and they've gone all-out on social media. The Duchess is on a photo-sharing spree on Instagram, and royal fans are loving it. From dreamy wedding pictures to snaps of their moves on the dance floor, the Sussexes have opened the door wide into their “modern fairytale” love story.
Markle shared a video of a mural of two penguins, along with a picture of the pair dressed up as penguins, placed on a table. An envelope addressed to ‘the one and only’ was neatly kept above the picture. The mural and the frame were most likely Harry’s anniversary gift for Markle. It was not only a nostalgic present but was also a reference to the common belief that penguins mate for life, making the birds a symbol of love. This was apt since the couple has weathered the most turbulent times together.
Markle went on to share a photo of the picture frame where they are dressed up as penguins in the next Instagram story, and it turned out to be cuter in its actual size. It was a mirror selfie of the two of them in penguin costumes. It instantly captured the hearts of royal fans. It is unclear why the couple was in costumes, but Halloween could be the best guess. From the background and the slopes of the roof, it seems like the photo is from their time in the UK, when they lived in Nott Cott, which had notoriously low ceilings.
The height difference between Markle and Harry was astoundingly clear in the new mirror selfie as the latter towered over his wife. The two dressed as penguins were beaming with joy as they smiled for the amusing picture. Markle had chosen to leave her hair open for the snap.
For the special occasion this year, the Duchess, who is an avid baker, seemed to have prepared a lemon elderflower cake. She shared a picture of the buttery delicacy as the couple was going for a romantic kiss. Two colorful clay items were placed on the dining table, with a separate envelope. They were probably handmade gifts from their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Markle has often talked about engaging her children in creative endeavours, so it comes as no surprise that the siblings decided to lean into their artsy side when coming up with sweet anniversary gifts for their parents.
After meeting for the first time in Soho House, London, in 2016, the Sussexes have come a long way. They got married at St. George’s Chapel on May 19th, 2018 and left the royal family two years later. The couple is now raising their two kids in their sprawling mansion in Montecito, California.
