Prince George’s Mandatory Military Training May Stop Him From Pursuing His Dream Job

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s eldest, Prince George, had his fate written even before he was born. Second in line to the British throne, the young Prince is expected to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, continuing the royal legacy. The 12-year-old, who is being groomed by William, already has a few protocols to follow, and in doing so, it may also cost him his dream job. George allegedly wishes not to be the monarch, but to become a chef. Although he can pursue his dream before taking up royal duties, the mandatory military training may become an obstacle in his journey.

Last October, George visited a cafe near Blakeney with his mother when he made the admission. According to the Daily Mail, Desmond MacCarthy, who owns Wiveton Hall Cafe, revealed details about his brief conversation with the future monarch. MacCarthy claimed that George was excited when he was shown the wood-fired pizza oven. Looking at the oven, he even declared, “That's what I want to do when I grow up!” The cafe owner further shared that the Prince of Wales was residing at Charles’s rural retreat, Anmer Hall. He said, “They came here with their friends, because Sandringham isn't that far away.” Speaking of George, he shared, “He was a sweet boy – they start to become less appealing as they grow up.”

George is destined to one day be King, but before the time comes, he may take up a different career path. However, it's likely to be the mandatory military training, rather than becoming a chef. His father, the Prince of Wales, before becoming a full-time working royal, worked for the East Anglian Air Ambulance for two years after training as an Air Ambulance Pilot. Prince Harry, George’s uncle, was also a trained Army Air Corps pilot.
Commenting on the same, Charles’s former butler, Grand Harrold, told the Daily Express, “In particular, George, as it is seen as vital for future kings to have had some sort of military training, so you can guarantee that George, whether he likes it or not, will have to go through that military training.” The butler explained, “You are the commanding chief of the Armed Forces, so you have got to know the profession." In Harrold’s views, the modern scenario, however, may change this protocol as he claimed, “There might not be so much pressure when it comes to George; only time will tell.”

Meanwhile, George is celebrating his 12th birthday on Tuesday, July 22. The occasion was marked by the release of the young Prince’s official portrait on social media. In the new picture, George wears a layered shirt with a sleeveless jacket, smiling warmly for the camera. Much like a typical portrait of Wales’ family, the Prince posed in a garden, resting his hands on a fence.
