During their ongoing visit to Australia, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been balancing a series of public engagements, even taking up several separate activities. For instance, on the second day of their trip, Harry made solo visits to meet veterans and support mental health initiatives, while Meghan stepped into the spotlight in a different way. She reportedly filmed a surprise guest appearance for the 18th season of the popular cooking show, MasterChef Australia. As soon as the official announcement went live, fans began re-sharing a throwback video featuring the Duchess confidently judging another cooking show a few years ago.

The teaser of the upcoming show was shared on Instagram, in which judge Poh Ling Yeow is heard announcing, "We've had MasterChef royalty in the kitchen before, but nothing like this. All the way from sunny California, please welcome to MasterChef Australia...the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle!" As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, a statement from the show's producers also read, “As part of her first Australian visit since 2018, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, featured as a guest judge on the country’s most beloved cooking show. Meghan mentored and guided our nation’s top home cooks alongside MasterChef Australia judges, Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin, and Jean-Christophe Novelli.”

Looking at her past experiences, one can clearly see that Meghan has a passion for cooking, especially given her recent ventures in the food space. For instance, she has already explored the culinary world through her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, where she collaborated with several well-known chefs like David Chang, Roy Choi, Christina Tosi, and more. She even launched her own line of food products under her brand, As Ever. In addition, Meghan previously appeared as a guest judge on the cooking show Chopped Junior in 2016.

On X, a person who goes by the username @claireXanda, shared a throwback clip from the 2016 cooking show and wrote, "Before royalists start attacking Meghan for being a guest judge on master chef Australia. This is exactly what you told her to do. You told her to go back to her old life. She’s doing just that. Meghan has been doing what she always did." Fans in the comments were completely on the same page, with one person, @whytesnowy, writing, "Attacking her is a waste of time. The woman doesn't even see them [the royals] anymore."

During her time on Chopped Junior, the Duchess tasted various dishes and shared her feedback with the young chefs. Speaking of her way of judging the contestants, she never held back, offering honest feedback but a cautious one, as reported by Glamour. For instance, after tasting one contestant’s chicken dish, Meghan pointed out that the yogurt sauce didn’t quite complement the rest of the food on the plate. However, she delivered her critique with grace, further adding that she genuinely enjoyed the meal.
