Meghan Markle Quietly Shot a Surprise Cameo for a Hit Cooking Show in Australia
The Masterchef Australia teaser introduced Meghan Markle as 'royalty' and the 'Duchess of Sussex'.
So far, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Australia visit has included a mix of charity work, public engagements, and a few personal passion projects. The couple arrived in Melbourne on Tuesday and were seen meeting young patients at a children’s hospital, spending time with veteran families, and even joining a pottery session with children. Apart from these joint engagements, Harry and Meghan have also planned some individual visits. For instance, the Duchess of Sussex is said to have secretly filmed a special appearance for the 18th season of the hit cooking show MasterChef Australia.
While the series begins this Sunday, Meghan’s appearance is expected to be broadcast later in the summer, as reported by HELLO Magazine. In a teaser that was shared on Instagram, the show and Network 10 hinted at a 'SUPER special' guest arriving in the MasterChef kitchen, alongside a photo of Meghan dressed in a black outfit with judges Jean-Christophe Novelli, Poh Ling Yeow, and Sofia Levin. In the video clip, Poh says, "We've had royalty in the MasterChef kitchen before, but no one like this! All the way from sunny California, please welcome to MasterChef Australia - the Duchess of Sussex!"
Soon after this, Meghan makes a grand entry onto the stage with a radiant smile and warm greetings. The caption of the Instagram post read, "Duchess of Sussex makes a special guest appearance this season as she returns to Australia for the first time since 2018. Joining a star-studded lineup of Guest Judges and culinary icons, Meghan helps guide some of the most impressive home cooks the competition has ever seen. This is the series of MasterChef you don’t want to miss."
It's worth noting that the Masterchef teaser introduced Meghan as 'royalty' and the 'Duchess of Sussex.' However, Meghan and Harry stepped back from their royal duties in 2020, retaining their Duke and Duchess titles while giving up the use of 'His/Her Royal Highness'. Nevertheless, this project perfectly aligns with Meghan’s personal passions, as she also had her own cooking show on Netflix titled With Love, Meghan. Along with this, she has even ventured into the food and lifestyle domain with her brand As Ever, producing items like jams, cookie mixes, and herbal teas, and sharing some of her favorite cooking tips through newsletters. Incidentally, the Duchess has also previously appeared as a guest judge on the cooking show Chopped Junior in 2016.
That said, the recent filming commitment kept her away from a busy day in Australia, where Harry visited the Western Bulldogs football club before heading to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. While there, he greeted several Indigenous veterans with handshakes and took part in a traditional smoking ceremony, led by Ngunnawal Gomeroi man Michael Bell, as reported by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
