Meghan Markle and Prince William Both Want Taylor Swift's Wedding Invite — Only One Might Have It
Meghan Markle openly congratulated Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce for their engagement in August last year.
Over the last few months, there have been speculations about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attending a potential Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce wedding. While some media reports have hinted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could be invited, other sources claim that they might be left off the guest list altogether, sparking intense debate among royal fans and Swifties.
Adding fuel to the fire, Prince William recently hinted on a UK radio show that he, too, might be in line for an invite, further fueling the chatter around who exactly makes the cut. Although nothing has been officially confirmed yet, a new report now claims that Markle is desperate to receive an invitation to one of the most high-profile celebrity weddings
While opening up to Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice, an insider said, “This was never just about attending a wedding. For Meghan, it was about getting closer to Taylor. Right now, nobody has more cultural influence than Taylor Swift, and Meghan has wanted that connection for years.” The person then went on to add, “Taylor was the one Meghan wanted most. More than any other celebrity, she saw Taylor as someone who could elevate her status and open doors.” This alleged admiration for Swift dates back to when Markle hosted the Archetypes podcast and tried her best to bring the pop superstar on as a guest.
Although the collaboration never happened, it fueled the ongoing speculation about Markle's interest in building a relationship with Swift. Another source claimed, “Meghan has always been drawn to powerful people. Throughout her career, she’s gravitated toward influential figures and high-profile circles. Taylor became the ultimate prize.” Similarly, just last year, another source reported that an invitation to Swift's wedding would be seen as a major status symbol by many, including the Duchess. It would signal an inclusion among Hollywood's most exclusive circles.
As reported by Reality Tea, the person said, “This is the kind of event that cements your place in the A-list hierarchy. If she’s snubbed, she’ll take it as a personal insult. She’s already saying it would be ‘a shame’ if certain people tried to keep her out, which is Meghan-speak for she’s gearing up to be angry.” It's also important to note that Markle openly congratulated the adorable couple (Swift and Kelce) after they officially announced their engagement in August last year, even though the announcement overshadowed the launch of her second Netflix project, With Love, Meghan.
Meanwhile, it's worth remembering that the Duchess's life took a dramatic turn after her marriage to Harry, as she left Hollywood behind and completely embraced her new role within the royal family. However, after the couple shifted back to the United States, she gradually re-entered the media and entertainment space through podcasts, documentaries, and other lifestyle ventures. While these projects have allowed her to maintain a creative presence, she might still miss the freedom and personal identity that came with her pre-royal career.
