Lady Louise’s Carriage-Driving Skills Leave Fans Remembering Queen Elizabeth [See Photos]
Following in Grandma's Footsteps
Lady Louise Windsor had fans thinking of Queen Elizabeth II as she took part in the Royal Windsor Horse Show on Sunday. The 22-year-old confidently showed off her carriage-driving skills during the International Carriage Driving Competition at Home Park. Since the late Queen was so well known for her love of horses and carriage driving, many royal watchers could not help but notice the resemblance. Louise looked right at home behind the reins as she took centre stage at the event.
The Queen's Influence
It is known by royal fans that the late Queen Elizabeth had a lifelong love for horses and carriage driving. Back in 1944, she was even photographed driving her great-grandmother Queen Alexandra’s carriage around Windsor Castle on her own. She was also spotted enjoying carriage rides with her sister, Princess Margaret, on several occasions before her death in 2022.
A Family Affair
Louise was not the only royal taking part in the event. Her mother, Duchess Sophie, also joined in on the carriage driving and was spotted wearing a midnight blue outfit paired with a matching top hat. The mother-daughter appearance made for a lovely moment at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. Away from royal events, Louise is currently in her final year at the University of St Andrews, where she is studying English.
Louise on Duty
Louise appeared to be taking her role at the Royal Windsor Horse Show seriously, even with her royal background. On Saturday, she was spotted helping out as part of the event team while wearing a yellow high-vis vest. She was even seen jokingly directing her parents from behind a metal barrier at one point. Later in the day, Louise changed into a fleece gilet with “CAI Official” written across the back as she continued working at the show.
Staying Grounded
A source close to the family said Louise and her brother James were raised as normally as possible by Duchess Sophie and Prince Edward. The source said, “Duchess Sophie and Prince Edward provided Lady Louise and her brother James with as normal an upbringing as possible, and this is clearly reflected in her work ethic." They added, "She is very grounded and down-to-earth; you wouldn't know she was a royal. It was her idea to ask for a part-time job. She's very hard-working.”
In Her Element
Louise looked completely in her element as she dressed up for the Royal Windsor Horse Show on Sunday. The young royal wore a khaki tweed blazer with a tan fedora hat and textured riding gloves for the occasion. She appeared relaxed and happy throughout the event, smiling confidently as she took her place in the driving seat.
