King Charles Warned by Unlikely Royal About More ‘Embarrassing Emails’ — Before Andrew Lost Titles
Trigger Warning: This article contains themes of sexual abuse that some readers may find distressing
King Charles might have stripped Andrew Mountbatten Windsor of his remaining titles, not because of the former Duke’s ongoing scandal but over what is to come. When Buckingham Palace confirmed the removal of his honors on October 30, the tone was strikingly firm. Given that reports claimed the disgraced royal ‘routinely refused’ to approve Palace statements if they expressed sympathy for his alleged victims, the final wording read as if the winds had changed. Sources now suggest that it was Queen Camilla who quietly steered the decision.
The Sun reported that she had been warned by someone close about 'further troubling material,' prompting a decisive conversation with the King. A source told the outlet, "Camilla was told by someone close to her that further embarrassing emails were set to emerge — this time about Andrew's finances." Allegedly, investigators have found millions of dollars in ‘questionable’ transactions connected to Epstein. This discovery has allegedly raised concerns that hidden details about his network could soon emerge. The release of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir, Nobody’s Girl, only added fuel to the fire, leaving the monarchy racing against time to contain another potential storm.
The Palace officially declared that Charles has initiated the formal process to remove his disgraced brother's remaining titles, including his princely status. The monarch did what his mother couldn't and also asked the 65-year-old to surrender his lease of Royal Lodge, a 30-room property that he called home for the last two decades. It also stated that these actions were ‘necessary’ despite the fact that Mountbatten Windsor has continued to deny wrongdoings.
In the Palace's statement, the concluding line drew attention. The line: "Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse,” was widely interpreted as Camilla's touch. This didn't come as a surprise, as the Queen Consort has long championed causes related to domestic and sexual violence. A royal insider told PEOPLE that there was definitely a sense of a 'female touch' in that statement. “There would have been a push from Camilla and Middleton, and there was pressure from William, who would not want to inherit the headache. It was a family decision,” they explained.
Ultimately, the ‘family decision’ was about protecting the credibility of the monarchy. Another source argued that the royal family is "definitely looking to the future.” They added, "This could all be part of that. William and Catherine are moving soon, and all their comments have been about looking to the future.” The King, however, was said to have found the situation deeply uncomfortable. “[Andrew] is his brother, and he will feel some care and affection and concern for him. But he wouldn’t have wanted to make that decision. He would rather Andrew dealt with it,” the source opined.
