King Charles has shown little sign of slowing down, continuing with a packed schedule of engagements despite his ongoing battle with cancer. Diagnosed with an undisclosed form of the disease in February 2024, the monarch was briefly hospitalized in March after suffering temporary side effects from treatment. While Charles maintains a cheerful appearance at public events, a royal source has claimed his health is severely declining. They also suggested that Prince William and Prince Harry may soon sort out their differences for the sake of their ailing father.

Charles was diagnosed with cancer during his hospital stay for a routine procedure for benign prostate enlargement. The insider told Parade magazine, "King Charles’ health has been deteriorating more and more. It wouldn’t be surprising if Prince William and Prince Harry reconnected a bit more over this. This could be the thing that pushes it to happen." Meanwhile, Harry has spoken about his wish to bury the hatchet with his cancer-stricken father during his May interview with the BBC. He said, "Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile."

Royal expert Christopher Andersen has spoken highly about Charles's untiring work ethic and commitment to the Crown despite his battle with the deadly disease. He told Fox News, "Now that the King has been reminded of his mortality — and we still have no firm idea how serious his condition really is — it's certain that he doesn't want to waste a single minute....Charles III is determined to make his mark on history." The expert added, "The late queen used to say, ‘I must be seen to be believed,’ meaning that the monarchy is more than an illusion.' King Charles wants to be seen doing the job he was born to do."

Contrary to the insider's claims, in July, during a walkabout in Newmarket, Suffolk, Charles gave a rare update on his cancer treatment. As per Hello! magazine, Lee Herman, a local, revealed details about his conversation with the monarch and said, "I asked him how he was, and he said he was feeling a lot better now and that it was 'just one of those things.’"The King reportedly asked Herman, who also had cancer, about his health. He shared, "He asked me how I was, and I said, 'I'm all good, I got the all clear from cancer last year.’" Charles’s discussion about his illness marked a rare revelation as he prefers to keep his treatment under wraps.

While Charles bravely shared his cancer diagnosis, he preferred to keep the specific type of cancer he had private. At the time, Buckingham Palace released a statement which partly read, "His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer." The King is reportedly under strict medical supervision and is currently enjoying his summer break with his family at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
