Kate Middleton's Wimbledon Outfit Had a Special Nod to Prince William Not Many Noticed

Kate Middleton often pays sweet tributes to her loved ones at royal outings with her choice of outfits and accessories. The Princess of Wales has been spotted wearing family heirlooms and jewelry passed down from her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, and grandmother-in-law, the late Queen Elizabeth. During her latest outing, as she fulfilled her duties as the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club at Wimbledon, her outfit included another special nod, this time to her husband, Prince William.

After much anticipation from royal fans who hoped to see the Princess at Wimbledon, the 43-year-old, who is an avid fan of the sport, hit the royal box on the thirteenth day of the tournament and was greeted with a standing ovation. For the day event, Middleton opted for a summery outfit, which included a beautiful light yellow top paired with a matching pleated skirt. The Princess accessorized her outfit with a belt, an Anya Hindmarch tote, beige Gianvito Rossi Ribbon slingback pumps, and her purple and green bow, which she wears every year in honor of the club. According to Forbes, however, the accessory she wore that was most precious was her Cartier Ballon Bleu stainless steel watch, which was gifted to her by William during their royal trip to Australia in 2014. The piece has a traditional steel band and a round case with a Swiss quartz movement from the luxury Ballon Bleu de Cartier collection.

This sweet nod comes after rumors surfaced about trouble in paradise for the Prince and Princess of Wales. William and Middleton are rarely spotted holding hands in public. However, when they did so recently while welcoming French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife at RAF Northolt for their official state visit, netizens claimed it appeared forced. According to Tyla, netizens noted how William held only the tip of Middleton’s hand at the event, and the Princess bore a rather strained expression. On Reddit, a person wrote, “This looks like these two are forced to be together, no chemistry at all. I have seen husbands and wives in hospitals showing more feeling toward each other than these two.” The netizen further added, “Maybe other photos are better, even the hand holding doesn’t seem genuine. That is my opinion.”

Many also compared the couple to Donald and Melania Trump, the latter once having famously swatted off her husband's hand in public. Others defended the royal couple, noting how they are not fond of PDA.
Coming back to the latest outing, William and Middleton were also joined by their two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, on the fourteenth day of Wimbledon. The four enjoyed the match before Middleton took center stage and gave away the trophies to the winners.
