Kate Middleton's Wimbledon Look Was Missing One Meaningful Detail — But We're Not Complaining
The Princess of Wales once again demonstrated how she continues to refresh her royal style while remaining effortlessly elegant.
Each year, as a patron of the Lawn Tennis Association, the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, showcases a signature Wimbledon aesthetic that combines royal elegance with summer sophistication. Whether in tailored blazer-and-skirt combinations or iconic midi dresses, Kate balances traditional British charm with contemporary fashion, making her a highly anticipated style icon at the tournament. However, this year, the Princess of Wales broke a major tradition by choosing an attire that is increasingly becoming her signature go-to style.
Kate debuted a summer-friendly cornflower-blue ensemble consisting of a linen-blend, double-breasted blazer and matching straight-leg trousers by Gabriela Hearst, paired with a white ribbed tank top from H&M for the fourth day of the event. She accessorized her business chic look with lapis and moonstone earrings and wore her signature sapphire-and-diamond engagement ring. Completing the ensemble with chocolate brown pumps, she styled her hair in a neat, wavy ponytail. During her visit, she engaged with fans in "The Queue," visited the ticket office, and spent time on Court 18 before heading to the Royal Box.
However, a tiny detail was noticed that spoke volumes about her modern efforts to represent the monarchy. Kate is used to being seen wearing a deep green and royal purple bow brooch to the Championships, but she opted out on this occasion. According to the Mirror UK, the stunning brooch is designed to match the tournament's official colors, representing her status as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, which organizes Wimbledon. It is a prominent insignia reserved for the patron, president, committee management, vice presidents, and select senior staff members. Kate's decision to leave the brooch behind is uncertain.
A keen tennis fan, she took over the prestigious patronage of the sport from the late Queen Elizabeth in 2016, after the Queen held the role for 64 years. The Princess of Wales is frequently seen in the Royal Box at Centre Court, where she presents trophies to the men's and women's singles champions each year. It is also a known fact that she loves the sport, having built a tennis court at Anmer Hall, her Norfolk getaway with the Prince of Wales and their three children. Her latest Wimbledon appearance also looks quite similar to a stylish look she debuted during her visit to Italy in May.
On her two-day visit to Reggio Emilia, Italy, in May, she wore a cornflower-blue trouser suit designed by Edeline Lee. The "Lola" blazer featured a slim cut and unique ruching, paired with high-waisted "Averill" trousers. Underneath, she wore a white Holland Cooper shirt bodysuit. Accessories included a sky blue Asprey London handbag, Annoushka pearl hoop earrings, and a personalized Monica Vinader necklace. Her tan Ralph Lauren "Celia" pumps completed the outfit. The choice of cornflower blue was a nod to Italy's national color, and the suit, although made in England, used Italian-woven fabric.
At Wimbledon, the Princess of Wales cheered Arthur Fery's match against Finland's Otto Virtanen on Court 18. She then walked to No. 1 Court to sit next to Andy Murray and watch Katie Swan battle against Madison Keys. Blending her signature elegant style with her genuine passion for tennis, the Princess of Wales once again proved why her appearances at the Championships remain among the tournament's most anticipated royal moments.
