Kate Middleton Recycles Her Beloved Wimbledon Dress at Royal Ascot — and the Timing Is Perfect
Kate Middleton must be looking forward to the Wimbledon this year, and the excitement showed through her outfit choice at Royal Ascot.
It is no secret that Kate Middleton is an ardent tennis fan, and as the Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, she is a regular fixture at Wimbledon every year. She will be celebrating 10 years in that position in 2026, and over the past decade, her fashion choices have certainly become a highlight of the prestigious Grand Slam, sharing the spotlight with the traditional strawberries and cream. It seems that the Princess of Wales is already excited for the upcoming tournament, which will begin this month, as she recycled one of her most popular Wimbledon outfits for Day 2 of Royal Ascot this year.
On Wednesday, Middleton rolled down the racecourse in a carriage wearing a bright yellow midi dress from British designer Roksanda and an elaborate hat. Royal fans were quick to notice the famous recycler had worn the sunny outfit before as well. The first time Middleton had debuted the outfit was in March 2022 in Kingston, Jamaica, during her and Prince William’s Caribbean tour. She seemed to have taken to the dress, as she wore it again, a short few months later at Wimbledon. And now she has returned to it for her triumphant comeback at Royal Ascot.
In Jamaica, the then-Duchess of Cambridge had paired the dress with a ponytail and white dangling earrings. At Wimbledon that year, she switched her look by leaving her hair open and wearing a straw hat, along with gold earrings. And on Wednesday, she tied her hair in a bun and wore drop earrings with the outfit. It will be interesting to see what outfits Middleton pulls out at Wimbledon this year.
Prince William wore a yellow daffodil pin on his lapel, which at first instance felt like a cute attempt to match the color with his wife’s outfit. However, on further inspection, royal fans noticed that the daffodils were actually a tribute to Wales, as they are considered to be an important emblem of the country. So, the Princess of Wales’ choice of the bright yellow dress may also have a deeper meaning behind it, considering she did look like a fresh daffodil in it.
The royal couple had missed the first day of Royal Ascot on Tuesday. However, their presence the next day sent waves of thrill and adoration throughout the crowds. William presented the Prince of Wales Stakes on Wednesday, after an exciting day at the racecourse.
Middleton also reunited with her mother, Carole Middleton, and sister-in-law, Alizee Thevenet, in the gallery. The Middleton matriarch seemingly took her daughter’s cue in fashion recycling as she wore the chic pink dress that she had worn to Pippa Middleton’s wedding in 2017.
