Kate Middleton Had a Heartbreaking Message for Princess Lilibet After Her Birth: ‘I Wish…’

Princess Lilibet recently turned four on Wednesday, June 4. Lilibet was born in the US in 2021, after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had moved to the US. After her birth, when Kate Middleton was quizzed by a reporter about her niece, the Princess of Wales shared a heartwarming wish. While visiting a school in Cornwall during the G7 summit, she revealed that she had not met Lilibet but was excited to when that happens.
Despite the spat between the Sussexes and Waleses, Middleton hoped to meet Lilibet soon. According to Daily Mail, when asked if she had any wishes for her then new-born niece, Middleton, smiling, said, “I wish her all the very best,” adding, “I can't wait to meet her because we haven't yet met her, so hopefully that will be soon.” The reporter further questioned if she had seen Lilibet via FaceTime, to which Middleton replied, “No, I haven't.”
As per Hello! magazine, royal expert Danielle Stacey once revealed that it is not confirmed whether “the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children have met Princess Lilibet.” Stacey added, “They may have spent some time privately with their niece during her first visit to the UK in June 2022 to celebrate the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee. However, Prince Harry only shared details about his children's reunion with their grandmother in his memoir, Spare.” Meanwhile, Prince Archie, having been born in the UK, had spent time with his cousins. As a baby, he was pictured enjoying a playdate with the Waleses’ children.
Things between Markle and Middleton soured long before the Duchess married Harry. The two sister-in-laws allegedly feuded over Princess Charlotte’s dress for the Sussexes' wedding. While the former actress, in her interview with Oprah Winfrey, claimed it was Middleton who had made her cry, author Tom Quinn, in his book, Yes, Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants, argued otherwise. Harry and Prince William eventually sat down with their spouses to clear the air after the wedding, as mentioned in the Duke’s memoir. However, the secret summit ended in screaming. Their spat, which has worsened after the Sussexes' shift to the US, has continued, and William and Middleton have allegedly never been a part of Lilibet’s birthdays.
As the little Princess turned a year older recently, Markle took to her Instagram handle to share never-before-seen pictures of her daughter. The monochrome photos featured Markle cradling Lili. She penned, “Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today, she came into our lives, and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!” Another post showed Lili with her father. The caption read, “The sweetest bond to watch unfold. Daddy’s little girl and favorite adventurer. Happy birthday Lili!”
