Harry Spills on ‘Secret' Meeting With William and Kate That Ended in Shouting: 'Meg Said...'
Prince Harry and Prince William once arranged a meeting with their respective spouses, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, to resolve their issues.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's feud with the royal family is well known. But what's lesser known is that it pre-dated their royal exit. Harry, in his memoir, Spare, claimed that he and his wife clashed with Prince William and Kate Middleton even before their wedding in 2018. The two couples, once dubbed as the Fab Four, sat down for a 'secret' meeting after the Sussexes returned from their honeymoon to hash out their differences. Their meet-up, however, did not turn out as expected, but rather ended in a screaming match.
Harry, in his recent BBC interview, admitted that his family may never forgive him, especially after the release of his memoir. In one of the chapters, he had spilled details about his and Markle’s sit-down with the Waleses. According to the Scottish Daily Express, Harry claimed it was his wife who brought up the tension between them when William and Middleton invited them for tea at Adelaide Cottage.
Harry claimed that things soon went south with Middleton believing that Markle “wanted her fashion contacts.” Harry further alleged that the Waleses were also angry over him and Markle not giving them Easter presents. He wrote, “Easter presents? Was this a thing? Willy and I had never exchanged Easter presents. Pa [King Charles] always made a big deal of Easter, sure, but that was Pa.” The Sussexes, nevertheless, allegedly ended up apologizing for the same.
Harry recounted how, during the conversation, Middleton gripped the “edges of the leather [seat]" so tightly that her fingers turned white. He claimed Middleton allegedly wanted to discuss the issue of Markle having blamed her hormones, in the weeks after Prince Louis' birth, for forgetting a planning detail ahead of his wedding in 2018. Middleton, as per Spare, made it clear she and Markle were not ‘close enough’ to talk about her hormones. Harry, penned that Markle in response, had explained, “That's how I talk with my girlfriends.”
As a quarrel ensued between the two royal ladies, William allegedly stepped in to defend his wife, pointing a finger at Markle. Harry claimed, he said, “It's rude, Meghan. It's not done here in Britain.” This prompted a response from the Duchess of Sussex, who said, “Kindly take your finger out of my face.” The meet-up, Harry revealed, ended with them hugging it out. However, it seemingly left a lasting impression. Harry penned his disbelief, “Was this really happening? Had it actually come to this? Shouting at each other about place cards and hormones? Meg said she'd never intentionally do anything to hurt Kate, and if she ever did, she asked Kate to please just let her know so it wouldn't happen again.”
