How Prince Harry Tackled Archie and Lilibet’s "Monday Morning Blues" With His Charity Work
Prince Harry explained how he tries to inculcate empathy, values, and compassion in his children.
Ever since his return to Britain, Prince Harry has worked hard to establish his presence, especially through his charity work. Keeping up with this, Harry recently made his eagerly awaited annual appearance at the 2026 WellChild Awards in London. These special awards honor ill children and the people who tirelessly care for them. At the venue, Harry spoke with HELLO!, where the Duke of Sussex was asked if he talks to his kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, about the kids he meets during his extensive charity efforts.
Furthermore, he was asked how he passes on the empathy and compassion he has so successfully channelled over the years. To this, the Duke responded with a smile, saying, “At breakfast this morning, they had a bit of Monday blues. It was always Sunday night blues when you’re being sent away to boarding school like I was, but for them, at breakfast this morning, I decided, you know what? You’re just being a little bit tricky, so I’m going to tell you exactly what I’m doing tonight.” This moment gave him an opportunity to instill key values in his children through a meaningful conversation.
But that’s not all; he further explained how interested his kids were in the conversation. He exclaimed, “They were genuinely fascinated and asking all sorts of questions. So, like with all of my work and their mum’s work as well, whatever we can do to try to instil some of that awareness, I think is absolutely crucial.” Harry has also previously expressed just how becoming a father has completely changed his viewpoint. In fact, he elaborated on this by saying, “Once you become a parent, it does change everything. It’s not the fact that for all the years that I wasn’t a parent that meeting the kids didn’t matter as much, but you suddenly realise how grateful you are to have kids that aren’t sick.”
Harry also shared another special moment during the evening when a young girl in a sparkly dress walked onto the stage and straight into the Duke’s arms. She gave him a warm, tight hug that was met with cheers from the audience. Best of all, the hug lasted for a while as she refused to let go. This heartwarming moment showed just how much of a loving and caring ‘girl dad’ Harry is, and it certainly wasn't the first time the Duke shared such a wholesome interaction with children.
